The cottage had obviously had a lot of work done internally and it was lovely. Good range of kitchen equipment and, as we were with my parents, the 2 en suites were ideal(in fact the main reason we looked at this cottage). On arrival, we were a bit apprehensive as the front exterior did make the cottage look run down. Unfortunately, once the rain started it did not stop and we cut our trip short by one night.

Lovely cottage in a great place with easy access to lots of walking and other outdoor activities. This was our 2nd stay at The Byre and we would book it again as it met all our needs for a winter and summer stay.

Fabulous location with outstanding views. Large cottage with plenty of room upstairs and down. The kitchen looked great but we didn't find it practical to use. Lovely restaurants hop, skip and a jump away though.

The Byre is a very comfortable holiday cottage, furnished with flair and with care. We had a lovely New Year holiday staying in the Byre and after daytime activities, we were always happy to go back to our 'home from home ' which was warm, welcoming and very cosy. We would definitely love to stay there again sometime.

It was a great place to stay and use as a central base to do things in the surrounding area

We were somewhat shocked at the dirty bed and kitchen crumbs everywhere. Cushions stained. From the picture it looked lovely. Instead it is behind a hall tiny over grown garden . Overlooks a picnic area then golfcourse at back, rather disapointing

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am very sorry you were disappointed in your recent visit – I am also surprised as our feedback as you can see is normally so great - in particular for cleanliness scoring 9.5 out of 10; which is an average score over many visits, and scoring 10 out of 10 most weeks. We really try hard to surpass guest’s expectations. We also score very highly at over 9 out of 10 for location, with many repeat guests. Regarding the garden, I must point out that we don't own the area between us and the golf course which is beyond and below the rear decking, that you refer to as overgrown - it actually looks quite beautiful just now with all of the autumn colours and shrubs, wildflowers and trees, and guests report their dogs like watching the rabbits and chickens down there from the glass balcony, but that is perhaps a matter of taste - it is not a manicured lawn and I'm afraid as it is owned by the golf club they only allow us to strim it. I think between the photos online and the property description it is not at all misleading - we have a lovely rear deck overlooking the golf course, and a smaller enclosed lawned garden at the front. Regarding the location - again, it is as per the description and photos - we are in the village, but not on the main street - this is considered by most of our guests ideal as they have the convenience of four or five fantastic places to eat within walking distance, but are still in a very peaceful rural setting. Once again, sorry that The Byre wasn't to your taste, and thank you for your feedback which enables us to re-examine our texts, description and images. If there is ever an issue with cleanliness I always urge guests to please get in touch whilst they are here, as our housekeepers are on hand to help with anything, and a letter with contact details is left for this reason.
