This is one of my favourite properties. There are lots if facilities on your door step from walking to Heritage centre and wildlife park. Great eating places on the Main Street and local hospitality is lovely.

Great second visit to this property and 3rd stay already booked. There was a problem with keeping the woodburner lit this stay. As I gave one myself suspect either wood damp or more likely chimney needing cleaned. Also one of the radiators in living area not working and shower in twin room was blocked. Left notes of these issues when we left

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are delighted that you like the Byre as much as we do and keep returning. Our apologies regarding the twin room shower, it was as you stated not draining quickly and we have attended to it - thank you for the feedback. We have 'multi-fuel' stoves in other properties in the village, and they all burn very well with logs, but we agree that this particular multi fuel stove seems to burn best with a combination of coal and logs together (some multi-fuel stoves favour coal, some have a set up that favours logs) so in addition to the logs we have also now installed a coal bunker with a supply of coal so that a bed of coal can get going first, with then the option of adding logs as desired, (the chimneys are swept regularly, and it is a very good quality cast iron stove). Sadly, a radiator broke down during your stay - it has been sent away for repair as it is part of a fairly high tec whole house heating system (a replacement is in temporarily, and the radiator will be returned to us soon; the house is still toasty with the existing radiators, stove and replacement). Thanks for leaving the note, it is always good to know these things as soon as possible so that everything is 100% for the next person who stays. We hope you will continue to enjoy many more stays with us in the future. Kind Regards, Dianne

Third time at The Byre & won't be the last. The cottage has everything you could want for a top class self catering holiday. My teenage daughter says it gets better & more comforting with every visit!

Our party was made up of my husband, his cousin from America and myself. We wanted to show her all our favourite areas in Scotland and The Byre was in the perfect location to see them.

Lovely cottage in a great place with easy access to lots of walking and other outdoor activities. This was our 2nd stay at The Byre and we would book it again as it met all our needs for a winter and summer stay.

The cottage had obviously had a lot of work done internally and it was lovely. Good range of kitchen equipment and, as we were with my parents, the 2 en suites were ideal(in fact the main reason we looked at this cottage). On arrival, we were a bit apprehensive as the front exterior did make the cottage look run down. Unfortunately, once the rain started it did not stop and we cut our trip short by one night.

Fabulous location with outstanding views. Large cottage with plenty of room upstairs and down. The kitchen looked great but we didn't find it practical to use. Lovely restaurants hop, skip and a jump away though.
