Description

Enjoy a relaxing break in Dulverton and take in the superb scenery in the area, as well as visiting many picturesque villages.

This characteristic, 15th-century cottage with its thatched roof and unusual feature of terracotta tiled exterior make this a unique holiday destination. Although having all the old charm outside, internally the cottage has been finished to a very good standard and provides a comfortable and convenient interior. The semi-detached cottage is situated in the Exmoor town of Dulverton not far from the banks of the River Barle. So, whether you want to wander into the town centre, enjoy one of the local pubs and restaurants, or sit by the river and watch the world pass by, all this can be done without having to step foot in the car. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor and many other places to visit to make a memorable holiday. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (NT), valley of the rocks and the funicular cliff railway are close by. Looking towards Minehead, there is the promenade to enjoy a relaxing walk and an ice cream, as well as having a good array of shops and other amenities. The West Somerset Railway is worth a visit for those with an interest in steam engines. Dunster Castle (NT) and village, with its beautiful terraced gardens, Deer Park and Mill will make for an interesting day out as well as Porlock Weir. There are beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor for all to enjoy. Shop, pub and restaurant 10 yards.

Ground floor: Living room with beams and slate floor. Dining room with beams. Kitchen with tiled floor. Utility room. Shower room with toilet. First floor: 4 bedrooms: 2 double, 2 twin. Bathroom with antique bath and toilet.

We enjoyed our Christmas visit to Dulverton. The hunt arrived Boxing Day morning. Local residents very friendly and the copper kettle breakfast the best. Only issues there was scaffolding up the outside of the cottage/Inn which we had not been made aware of before hand. New thatching in process. Also dogs welcome but no outside area at the premises for them. So walking early mornings a must. Due to scaffolding no parking at premises also not advised of. A very picturess building which we did not have the benefit of.

Had been informed that there was parking for 2 vehicles but when we arrived, all 4 cars!!!, there was scaffolding all over the property and parking was impossible without blocking the entire footpath. No one told us before hand and that was one of the main reasons for booking this particular cottage!

A great cottage in a really convenient location in the heart of Dulverton close to all amenities. The cottage exceeded our expectations. It was stylishly kitted out, well equipped and beautifully clean. Highly recommended.

Fantastic house with lots of space. Very clean and comfortable. Had everything you needed . Great location next to the pub and village shops. Stones throw to the river where you could paddle. Shame it didn't have anywhere to sit outside; it Could have been clearer on details that not even a yard. Overall was great and loved the area.

A lovely cottage, really needs to be advertised as having only one car parking space. Advertising it as having two spaces is very misleading.

Some small issues like noisy water pipe, one bedroom door can't close properly shower water either too hot or too cold etc, nice quiet location with good pub next door, farm shop opposite the road, overall is good.

Generally good. We've stayed here before and would again based on location. Property is let down by plumbing. Upstairs bathroom looks quaint but bath is actually very small, and worse, the taps are extremely difficult to turn on and off. When we arrived the cold supply to the bath was not working at all, which a plumber was called to fix (done very promptly). But on another occasion the hot water was difficult to turn off in the bath, and the cold water in the sink in the bathroom has a permanent drip, which it also did on our last visit 2 years ago! The shower downstairs is disappointing in pressure - needs a power shower. I put these as valid complaints, an after a long day walking a good hot bath or shower is the main thing I'm looking for ways are to and it's disappointing when it's not ideal. I think if it were mine I would bite the bullet and put in a modern goto quality fit for purpose bathroom suite. Small point but we were only given one key - which seemed a bit mean. Very nice to have bread and milk on arrival, although with such a good baker in town it was a bit surprising that it was Morrison's.

Dulverton is a brilliant location for a walking holiday. The Boot was very comfortable and we had a nice welcome from the caretakers with a lovely welcome pack. We would definitely recommend The Boot for a holiday. The pub next door - The Bridge - is also very welcoming and serves delicious food.

Great location and facilities, especially the well equipped kitchen which was ideal for our Christmas dinner! The plumbing in the upstairs bathroom was a little fussy but it was antique. The lovely log burner in the lounge was perfect.
