Description

Enjoy a relaxing break in Dulverton and take in the superb scenery in the area, as well as visiting many picturesque villages.

This characteristic, 15th-century cottage with its thatched roof and unusual feature of terracotta tiled exterior make this a unique holiday destination. Although having all the old charm outside, internally the cottage has been finished to a very good standard and provides a comfortable and convenient interior. The semi-detached cottage is situated in the Exmoor town of Dulverton not far from the banks of the River Barle. So, whether you want to wander into the town centre, enjoy one of the local pubs and restaurants, or sit by the river and watch the world pass by, all this can be done without having to step foot in the car. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor and many other places to visit to make a memorable holiday. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (NT), valley of the rocks and the funicular cliff railway are close by. Looking towards Minehead, there is the promenade to enjoy a relaxing walk and an ice cream, as well as having a good array of shops and other amenities. The West Somerset Railway is worth a visit for those with an interest in steam engines. Dunster Castle (NT) and village, with its beautiful terraced gardens, Deer Park and Mill will make for an interesting day out as well as Porlock Weir. There are beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor for all to enjoy. Shop, pub and restaurant 10 yards.

Ground floor: Living room with beams and slate floor. Dining room with beams. Kitchen with tiled floor. Utility room. Shower room with toilet. First floor: 4 bedrooms: 2 double, 2 twin. Bathroom with antique bath and toilet.

Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. Washer/dryer. Wi-fi. Parking (2 cars). No smoking.

Lovely cottage, kitted out well. Beds were comfy. Lovely welcome pack there for us with wine and cake, perfect!! Only issue we had was the shower not being very powerful. But that wouldn't stop us coming again and have already booked our next trip here. For any kayakers (or canoeists), there's a utility room that gets very warm and is perfect for drying wet kit!!

Really liked this cottage and hoping to stay again next year. It's a shame it doesn't have a garden only because I have two dogs that would help them for a quick wee. Very clean and very hot. We struggled to cool it down. Village lovely and so was the pub next door.

Really beautiful cottage, very comfortable, easy to keep clean. Excellent location. Parking not brilliant but free spaces across the bridge were available for the second and third cars in our party when the road outside was full. Minor criticisms: if the downstairs bathroom extractors were more efficient/both functioning, the very mild damp/mould build up would be better. I had to double check function of the CO and smoke detectors due to expired battery life.

The cottage was pleasant however not really suitable for dogs as there is no garden space. There is also only one car parking space. The cottage is in the main through road and next door to the local pub so can be noisy at night and due to age of the property the windows aren't very good at keeping out a draft or the noise. The cottage does come well equipt and provides everything you would need for your stay. Local area has plenty of amenities and lovely places for walks.

The Boot was comfortable, warm and clean with an adequately supplied kitchen to serve all the family and visitors that came during our stay. Towels were supplied and the beds were comfortable: we truly enjoyed our weekend. If there was anything I would change or improve on, it would be the toilet systems: the upstairs bathroom flush refused to work on several occasions and it would take several rapid of the chain to get the aging sifon to operate: a very noisey action especially when children are in bed. The downstairs bathroom is in fact lovely with excellent shower but on my first push of the flush, the button broke resulting in a 33 mile drive to B&Q to get a replacement, the loo was fixed on my return. These were only small incidents and didn't mar or spoil our stay: it was simply fabulous. The parking outside the property is limited to one vehicle but there can be parking on the opposite side of the road when locals more there cars and there is a large car park just a few steps away and for a small fee it met all our needs.
