Owners were lovely and the property is lovely with beautiful countryside around. Bedrooms were lovely and really nice having en suite in all rooms. Kitchen was a great size, lots of plates and pint glasses although some wine glasses might be helpful. Pots and pans were very old and some dirty, could really do with being updated as nothing was non stick!!!

Great place for relaxing break. Secluded location. Big enough to accommodate the 4 adults and 5 children in our party. Would go back again.

Six adults, three children and a baby stayed over new year for four nights. The reason we picked the barn was to find a suitable location between London and the north so old friends could meet up. It seemed reasonably priced. Unluckily the weather was appalling - heavy rain and low temperatures, very muddy and extremely windy every day. Unfortunately some essential equipment was in need of replacing - the boiler timer was faulty and every couple of hours would reset the house temperature to lower temperatures, the cooker is old and all the numbers on all knobs have been rubbed off over time. We tried to roast a chicken but the oven took ages to warm up and after an hour was still pretty raw. Most of the kitchen equipment looks like hand me downs after years of use. The frying pan for example was pretty worn and couldn't fry eggs. There was no foil, no cake baking equipment but inexplicably a thousand pint glasses..! Some items had to be re washed before first use as they were a bit grimy. The bedrooms are well heated except for the small bedroom which had a mysterious draft and unfortunately our baby kept waking up because it was cold and drafty in the night. Obviously this won't be a problem in the summer. Finally the wifi...there isn't any wifi directly in the house despite being advertised. It actually comes from the owner of the cottages wifi across the lane. So if you want internet you must squeeze against the window or have equipment that expands wifi from a neighbouring house to your area which luckily one heroic housemate did have! With a bit of an update this could be a good property but on leaving I mentioned to the owner he should get a new cooker to which he replied 'I'll definitely get some sticker numbers and stick them on the knobs..' Could be a lot better..

We had a wonderful Christmas here. We could have done with a better oven, but we managed. The situation is delightful and the owner was very helpful. I'd definitely recommend this place.

With our 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren, we had an excellent and comfortable stay. Grandchildren (ages 4-8) loved the house, excellent access without long car journeys to local walks and attractions. Biddulph Gardens, Little Moreton Hall, Gladstone Pottery Museum (in Stoke - excellent for children) within easy reach, walks from the house and in Manifold Valley and round Buxton. Only concern - safety issue mentioned below (also mentioned to Mr Weaver, and noted by previous renters in house book but still outstanding).

Absolutely lovely cottage, owner very accommodating and helpful. For the record the showers are great! I don't know what the other review was about, but each room has an ensuite, the showers are power showers and are nothing to worry about! The cottage could do with some coat hooks in the hallway, but I let the owner know and he said he will get that organised. There are plenty of glasses, but could do with a few more mugs as we are keen tea drinkers and they ran out quite quickly. I would happily stay there again, and are planning something next year. For large groups its ideal, as you could book two cottages (they are in the same building) and still feel independent.
