Really lovely cottage ideally located to enjoy the facilities Combe Martin has to offer including a lovely beach, pubs, restaurants and local shops. Parking worked well - car park is literally over the road and there were no issues loading and unloading the car just outside the cottage. For information, car park charges are £7 for 24hrs as at April 2016 if any additional permits over and above the one provided are required, or additional permits can be ordered for pre arrival. Felt immediately at home and looking forward to returning soon!

A lovely cottage and so close to the beach.A stair gate would be good. If we had the money to buy a holiday cottage it would be Sunset. There were quite a lot of light bulbs not working upstairs. I would have liked a cleaning cupboard with cleaning materials, but Paul said not everyone goes on holiday to clean! We will return to Sunset and would highly recommend it.

Really enjoyed a week stay. Close to the beech and pubs. Ideal for dogs as there are plenty of places to walk them as well as a little back yard.

Lovely cottage very close to the beach. Owners were very helpful and gave lots of useful information. Instructions for parking permits are wrong - the council is only open 10-12 every day so it's not possible to buy one until Monday.

We had a lovely time at Sunset cottage in Combe Martin. A very comfortable and clean cottage. It is a good size. Perfect location to explore North Devon. Close to all the amenities. We hope to be back.

My family and I had an amazing holiday at Sunset Cottage . The décor, the facilities , the space and comfort and the location definitely met our expectations. The very friendly and helpful owner was easily contactable before and during our stay and was able to sort out a minor problem quickly at the start. We will definitely be returning.

This is a lovely cottage in a fantastic location only a stones throw from beach and all amenities. The cottage had been tastefully decorated however there was areas that could be improved to give this a higher grade. One double bed was very very squeaky. The other double bed was really uncomfortable, metal base and had the feeling of a camp bed. The two singles (of which could be pushed together to make double) was very comfortable. We loved that there was TV's in lounge, kitchen and two main bedrooms although the one bedroom was too high up to see when lying in bed. Door knob on bathroom door kept coming off and kitchen door would not open on a couple of occasions. Suggest cleaner checks crockery as there was chipped mugs and cracked glass and untidy (no inventory). Towels was provided but only one hand towel between 6 people we did all have a bath towel. Vacuum cleaner was very smelly and the broom head kept falling off so we resorted to dustpan and brush. Outside area was very overgrown but you could see potential was there for a lovely outside space, outside seating was poor and BBQ had not been cleaned. Please note these issues to us could be rectified very quickly and I'm sure the owners who was very kind and helpful will attend to this once they are aware. There is no car parking but it is no problem to offload and leave your car with permit supplied on the public car park just opposite.

Really good kitchen equipment, well appointed. Only a very small garden area but it was sufficient for us. Great location, very close to the bay and within really easy distance of Exmoor national park. We had dogs and it was a great size for them

First class location for access to coast and other towns. The garden was smaller than expected and little overgrown. The house was generally clean and tidy but could benefit from a general clean throughout but as holiday makers we have responsibility to leave clean and tidy after use and some of us do and some of us don't. Owners very pleasant.

The house is in a perfect location. Directly in the heart of Combe Martin. Just a stone throw to the sea and you could see it out of the windows in the bed rooms. Also shops and restaurants are just a minute away. Car park is round the neighbours house so perfect for getting there by car. The size is also very good. You have 3 bedrooms. The bathroom is quite small which is not unusal but enough. Kitchen and living room have a good size. Washing machine and dryer are there for free use. Unfortunately the cleanliness was disappointing on arrival. Seemed like the cleaning lady hadn't much time to clean the house. Due to fact that also dogs are allowed there I think this is a big problem. We are not the ones to expect a holiday home as perfect clean as it might be at home. But opening the jalousies was a nightmare. There were cobwebs that looked like they had been for many years (it remembered me to a haunted house!). This is something I expect nowhere - not at home and of course not at a holiday home. The kitchen equipment was partly dirty. If you offer e. g. a sugar tin it's - sorry - disgusting to have sticky rests of something that might have been sugar before. The fridge looked as it was "cleaned" with the same flannel like the ground. Also the TV board in the living room and DVD player and receiver. The washing-up liquid was empty and there were no dishcloth. So we had to went out to get cleaning agent. On the ground in the bathroom and downstairs were quite many dog hairs. Especially if dogs are allowed I would expect to clean very precise. I know that Lesley (who was very kind before via E-Mail and send lots of information!!!) said that she doesn't live in Devon. I would suggest to have a look at the cottage more often or to teach the cleaning lady. It is really sad because the house could be so lovely. After we cleaned the bathroom and the fridge and the equipment we tried to feel comfortable. But unfortunately we couldn't ignore the very first impression. It's really a shame. When the cleanliness problem would be solved I would definately recommend the Sunset cottage. A quick information: if you pay the security deposit via SEPA / remittance it seems that when it's returned from UK to Germany there is charged a fee of 15 pounds!!!! Should be kept in mind for visitors from other countries. This isn't Lesley's fault but I think this should be known.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We have taken on board the comments about the cleanliness and will again speak to the cleaners. As mentioned we only get to go the cottage when is not being rented. However, please can I ask that should you have any problems with the standard of cleanliness please can you let us know immediately and we will get the cleaner back in to rectify this. With regards to the security deposit when this is paid in a currency other than sterling this will be subject to exchange rate changes and bank charges on both sides. This is the first time anyone has paid in a currency other than sterling.
