we absolutely loved the cottage, its facilities and location but found the owner very invasive. On a 7 night stay, she 'popped in' for various reasons most days including sitting outside for around 6 hours one day waiting for a tradesman, collecting items from her shed and checking our bins! Most of the cupboards contained her own personal artifacts so there was limited storage space for our own items.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. I was disappointed to read your review on Starboard Cottage. I pride myself on high standards and I am proud of my 9.7 / 10 rating, good reviews from previous guests and Customers Choice award. I always try to make Christmas stays extra special by providing little gifts; real Lanson Champagne and chocolates, and I go to great efforts with the Christmas decorations. I explained to you on the day of your arrival that unfortunately there was a problem with the internet connection and I had difficulty getting an engineer to come to the cottage. I had waited for them for five hours on the Tuesday before your arrival, but the engineer had not arrived. Unfortunately it was a problem inside the property and the only time slot I could get was between 8am and 1pm the day after you arrived. I did apologise and explained that I would wait outside for the engineer. To cut any disturbance to you down to a minimum, as you know, I had taken the key to the patio doors to the room the engineer needed to work in so that we didn't have to come into the main part of the house. Unfortunately I had no alternative but to wait outside the property as I live 25 miles away and I could not get BT to give me a specific time for their arrival. I apologised on numerous occasions for any inconvenience, as I like things to be perfect for my guests. The engineer was only in the cottage for half an hour and the router is situated in a room you were not using at the time. I am so sorry that you found this intrusive. I did have to go into the shed on one occasion as the leaf blower needed to be collected for repair, the gardener had forgotten to tell me before you arrived or I would have removed it then, I thought it polite to ask if you minded first. The reason I checked the bins whilst collecting the leaf blower (which are located just inside the gate) was to empty some rubbish to give you more room for the extra that is always generated over the Christmas period. I thought this was providing you a better service and was thanked by the guests staying at my other cottage when I did the same for them. I did see the cat that you had brought without permission and did express - very politely, that cats were not actually allowed in the property and asked you please to be careful of where the litter tray was placed and to please not allow it to scratch the sofas - surely not an unreasonable request. As a cat lover and owner I know how unpredictable they can be and would hate any evidence of a cat in the property being left for the next guests. I don't store any personal belongings at the cottage. I have to have one cupboard for clean bed linen, one for cleaning products and a kitchen cupboard for spare light bulbs etc. I have never had a comment regarding lack of storage space for a family of six, providing plenty of kitchen cupboards and lots of wardrobe space. I'm pleased you loved the property and to that end am surprised that unfortunately after your stay, an additional 6 hours of cleaning were required. It was apparent both dogs had been allowed to sleep in the bedrooms, which is contrary to the terms and conditions of booking the property. I hope that future guests will continue to enjoy Starboard Cottage.

Having stayed at Starboard before, we knew what to expect. Welcomed by the owner and a homemade cake and a bottle of wine. Clean and very comfortable cottage in an ideal location to access the dunes and sea. Would not hesitate to recommend this cottage.

This is our third visit to Staboard Cottage. It is a wonderful place to stay and the location is fantastic. With very comfortable beds, a touch of luxury in the furnishings and just five minutes walk to the amazing sand dunes which lead to the beautiful beach it is indeed a fantastic location for a great holiday.

We had a lovely stay at Starboard Cottage, Jan the owner was very welcoming, she left a very nice cake, wine, sweets for the girls and even biscuits for the dog. The cottage was as you saw it in the picture, very picturesque, lovely and comfortable, perfect for the beach. I am sure we would love to return to this beautiful cottage.

Absolutely lovely place ... The lovely owner had decorated it for Easter and left Easter eggs for adults and children. Right near the beach and 2 mins to the pub . Everything you would want from a holiday cottage and more. Thank you
