English Country Cottages

From a touch of luxury to characterful heritage, experience one of our truly inspiring holiday properties.

This beautifully converted stone barn is an ideal base for exploring both Devon and Cornwall.

These beautifully converted stone barns (refs GTM and GTN), adjacent to the owners’ home, are set between the picturesque villages of Altarnun and Polyphant. Both properties combine mellow stone walls and old beams, have well-equipped kitchens and their own garden with furniture, patio and barbecue. The holiday cottages have an elevated position overlooking an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and provide an excellent centre for exploring the coastal paths and moors of both Devon and Cornwall. The Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and several magnificent National Trust houses and gardens are within easy reach, as well the fascinating seaside villages of Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac and the food capital of Cornwall, Padstow. An Ordinance Survey walk passes right by the cottages and the area is a walkers’ paradise. The historic market town of Launceston, 5 miles, offers supermarkets, shops, a castle and sports facilities. Plymouth and its many attractions is 25 miles away. The area has a growing reputation for good pubs, restaurants, farm shops and locally produced food. Admired golf courses, fishing, horse riding and cycle ways can be found nearby. Shops and pub 2 miles.

Have stayed there twice before (2007 & 2008) so knew it was probably very good. Friendly owner next door which was great.

A lovely cottage to stay in. We were made to feel very welcome and the place had everything we needed. Lovely quiet spot. We were able to get to see the places we had planned including Tintagel, Boscastle, Bude and the Eden project. The trees are beautiful at this time of year and we missed all the holiday traffic...perfect!

We had a pleasant weekend break at The Stable End Cottage . It was a shame that the owners didn't supply towells (which were an extra cost) and no complimentary toiletries in the bath room. We have stayed in other cottages where the owners have left a welcome pack of milk and bread which was very nice after a long drive. But unfortunatley this was not the case at Stable End. Sometimes it seems those little things go a long way. Overall we had a nice weekend break and the cottage was clean and comfortable.

A really nice place to stay with a warm welcome. A good starting point for getting anywhere. The barn has all the things you need on a day to day basis and the wifi was an added bonus.

We came to stable end for a girlie birthday weekend away and had a fabulous time! Cottage was so lovely and perfect for what we wanted. The owners were super friendly and provided us with some very tasty scones! We took a day trip to the Eden project and visited a few beaches, weekend went exactly as we wanted! We would love to do it all over again!!!!
