Very pet friendly cottage in the village of Llansteffan only 8 miles from the county town of Carmarthen

Springer Cottage is a spacious mid terraced holiday cottage situated in the village of Llansteffan, which itself is nestled between the Towy Estuary with its glorious sandy beach and the rolling Welsh countryside. French doors extend the living space into a fully enclosed, landscaped rear garden which benefits from a sun trap patio area and a back gate leading to the beach and the village itself. Inside, facilities such as a dishwasher and pet room/utility room, along with an abundance of soft furnishings, make Springer Cottage a haven of comfort and convenience.

A superb base for exploring the sensational counties of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. Just a 300 metre amble from the back gate takes you to the centre of the village. With its Norman Castle dominating the headland above its sandy beach, its 12th century church and ancient streets, this place often feels suspended in time and is widely regarded as Wales’s best kept secret! With fantastic views across the Towy Estuary to the village of Ferryside, Llansteffan boasts a foodie pub, cafe and a fine restaurant; plenty of choice for re fuelling following coastal walks around the headland of Wharley Point to take in the sensational views of the Taf Estuary and Laugharne: Those in search of further gastronomic adventure must head for Laugharne: Once home to the Welsh writer, Dylan Thomas, it’s now home to numerous restaurants, pubs, cafes and galleries. Enjoy a a lunch time snack alongside the water at The Boat House Cafe, also part museum; this place was the last home of the much loved writer. Or feast on fine, locally sourced produce at Seaview, a splendid restaurant within what was once his first marital home in the town. With regular family friendly activities taking place at its magnificent medieval castle, Laugharne is a place you’ll want to visit time and time again. The county town of Carmarthen lies just 8 miles from Springer Cottage and offers plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants, galleries, cinema etc. The town lays claim to being the oldest in Wales and originates from AD75. A roman amphitheatre remains in the town, one of only 7 in the UK. Legend has it that Carmarthen was the home of Merlin, the wizard of Arthurian folklore; something lauded annually at a summer festival celebrating all things myth and magical at Carmarthen Park. The Angel Vaults Restaurant provides a great venue for lunches or evening meals for those exploring this intriguing county town. Whether returning from the ’Go Ape’ adventures at Pembrey Country Park, pony trekking across stunning beaches or a boat trip out of Tenby to the serenity of Caldey Island, you can’t fail to appreciate the comfort and convenience of Springer Cottage. With easy access to so much, including both golf and watersports within five miles, yet tucked away from the bustling tourist trail, this cottage provides the perfect place for whatever holiday you wish to create.

I visited with my 3 children age 21, 19 and16 and my miniature schnauzer. The cottage is within 5 minutes walk to the beach and another 15 minutes up to Llansteffan castle, which can be seen from the bedroom window. The facilities in the cottage are great. I don’t have a dishwasher at home so that was a bonus, and the washing machine is handy if you get muddy trousers on the daily walks! The decor is lovely and it is cleaned to a very high standard. The beds are comfortable and garden secure which is good with having my schnauzer with us. It is a great place to come home to after visiting local castles, the Brecon Beacons, parklands and beaches. Very warm and cosy. We had a wonderful few days there and didn’t want to leave. Would definitely stay again as the location is perfect for me! The only thing to bear in mind is availability of local shops. I took a fair amount with me and stocked up from a Spar shop 10 minutes drive away which was open Easter Sunday. Thank you!

A very comfortable holiday home with a secure garden for our dogs and children and less than 5 minutes walk onto the beach. As a dog friendly house it was excellent, but it needs a stair gate to stop dogs from exploring upstairs. We would definitely want return and highly recommend Springer Cottage.

The house and garden are very dog friendly, and there are a number of good walks on the doorstep. The village has everything we needed for a week's holiday and Carmarthen is a short drive away to stock up on the essentials. However, we found the sofas to be really uncomfortable and the oven did not work well when we wanted to eat in.
