A great stay. Far enough away from Aberdeen and the city, but close enough to commute. Local restaurants were good. Scenery amazing. Hospitality and flexibility was excellent. Everything you need for a home away from home.

It was wonderful to stay in the grounds of a castle and I would rate the location very highly; it was tastefully furnished with everything you would need to make it a home from home. Unfortunately during our stay the Rayburn started playing up and despite Fiona's best efforts we had to tinker with it each morning and evening to get the heating to turn on. As a consequence it was a bit chilly at times, and I didn't get any lie ins, even though the bed was super comfy. None the less we would love to stay there again.

Helpful unobtrusive hosts...this is a cottage, so it's small and full of character. You'll need to waggle heating controls and maybe tiptoe through a bedroom to get downstairs, but if you are close friends/family it's all part of the character of the place. You'll Have to drive for 10 mins to get toTesco, bit it's got everything. A beautiful part of the world too. Clean and warm and good value.

Very private and secluded spot. The only fault was a temperamental Raeburn heater that had a mind of it's own. Fortunately there were plenty of alternative heating methods provided, so not really a problem. A delightful place to stay, especially when blessed with dry sunny weather as we were.

Beautiful estate/castle being restored, enjoyed walking the grounds. Well located for day excursions on Castle Trail and Whiskey Trail. Very peaceful and relaxing.

We really enjoyed staying at Skene House Cottage. Nick and Fiona are wonderful hosts. Thank you for making us feel very welcome and share your home with us. The Cottage is very well equipped. It is such a tranquil and special place. Since you will be living in a Castle be aware that it might get a bit chilly in the evenings (especially in this time of year), nevertheless we had a great stay.

This is a very special cottage within the old beautiful Skene castle. It is very calm and the hosts are very friendly. You have many options to either visit the highlands (Cairngorns Nationalpark) or the seaside. However, you need a car and have to drive.

Had a lovely holiday in quiet country surroundings with nice walks and plenty to do in the local area. It was fantastic to stay in the group day of the castle and Nick was very knowledgeable about the history.
