We enjoyed our week as the house is in a great positon right by the bay. However, some niggles with furnishing - no full length mirror; no towel rail in the en-suite; the remote was missing for the DVD player which meant we could not select episodes on DVD’s that we had brought with us; a bizarre and inappropriate picture on the lounge wall. The fridge/freezer had gone wrong which meant we were provided with a cold box for the first few days, but this wasn’t big enough for all our cold goods. No note of apology or welcome pack to help make up for this. Some contact by the owners would have gone a long way in these circumstances. The property was badly let down by a lack of cleaning – thick dust on many surfaces, downstairs toilet was dirty, dirty plug holes full of hairs, shower screen dirty, a previous guest’s scarf left hanging on a peg, such a shame as the house itself was in a great location and was otherwise well furnished.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Since renting out the property from 2009 we have prided ourselves on the positive feedback from previous guests, often returning guests. We wish to highlight our actions taken. Full length mirror in place. New DVD player purchased and wi-fi installed. Every effort possible to replace the new appliance was attempted, but due to rural location companies unable to expediently deliver. Detailed cleaning was not up to our own standards but this has been resolved by improved instruction to and monitoring of staff. We welcome feedback from guests to enable us to respond promptly. Guests are provided with contact details of letting agents and first point of contact telephone numbers. We were disappointed that your stay was affected by highlighted issues. We pride ourselves in maintaining high standards to ensure guests enjoy their stay in Garlieston.

Beautiful situation with view over Garlieston Bay. Had a wonderful two weeks in the Galloway area. Property is modern and well kept. Area includes Galloway forest north of Newton Stewart - something at the three visitor centres for everyone. Found the locals friendly and charming. At the property is an excellent patio area complete with modern barbeque which faces the bay - first floor bedroom facing the bay has a balcony which accommodates two people - as the sun moves around the house there is another seating area which is South facing.

Wonderful place to stay for relaxation peace and quiet. Lovely views from bedroom and kitchen seeing tides coming in and out over beautiful beach. Decking area well equipped with table and chairs. Only negatives .. not many cooking utensils for cooking meals or baking. No dvd control. Lovely bedlinen. Clean and comfortable. Been twice going again.

A modern clean house with a fantastic view.Had everything you need for a comfortable relaxing holiday. We were lucky to have 7 days of brilliant sunshine,so used the outdoor furniture on the patio and balcony and the barbecue. There was plenty of space outside to relax. The house is very close to the sea and beach which our sons both enjoyed. We would recommend the Harbour Inn in the village for food, friendly service and gluten free food.Garlieston is a good place for walking or cycling.

The only thing I didnt consider was the sea going in and out - doh - so spent sometime overlooking muddy sand - but it was fascinating watching the bay fill and empty over the day. A lovely location.

Great location, The Harbour inn local pub very welcoming providing decent food at reasonable prices. Several excellent coastal walks from the door, great views of the harbour area and bay. House well equipped and comfortable. Absolutely spotless and plenty of towels and all bedding provided.Heater in the master bedroom not working but otherwise everything 100%. Biggest let down as other guests have commented on in the lack of internet. I got a BT FON connection and paid £17.95 for 5 days which was not too bad but performance is dire and slow (I have Virgin 200meg service at home so it may not seem too slow for others with basic internet at home) Their is NO 3G or 4G phone signal anywhere for miles so if you have a medical emergency you will need to find a payphone or the like. However if you want to get away from it all this is literally the place. We had a very relaxing week and would recommend and use this property again.
