Position was great. The flat was not very clean, rather shabby and in need of a bit of refurb. The bathroom door handle and lock was rather dodgy as it got stuck we did not close the door. The back yard is in need of a bit of a clean even if the weather had been good it would not have been very pleasant to sit out . There was a really bad damp patch under twin bedroom window and when it rained became worse and began to smell. Furniture in lounge was not very comfortable to sit on for any length of time, dining chairs very wobbly.

Response on behalf of the Owner; I'm sorry that you have felt it necessary to write a bad review. You did telephone me to say the bathroom door handle had got stuck. Then you told me that it wasn't as clean as you expected. I asked if you were alright to manage with the door handle as it was during your stay so that you were not disturbed. If you had said no, I would have got someone out to look at it whilst you were there. I had no way of knowing it would fail during your stay. I apologised for what you said were cleaning issues and I have spoken to the cleaner as I promised. You made no mention of the furniture which has been re-upholstered but it does seem to be very much down to personal taste as to what's comfortable (too hard/too soft). A couple of the dining chairs have developed a small amount of movement in them but I have been unable to get the fixings off to tighten them up so far but at least that would indicate they're not going to collapse anytime soon. I believe the damp which has re-appeared since the damp proofing works, must be due to an issue in the flat above. I am speaking to the owner of that flat but unfortunately can't do anything major whilst the property is booked. I have been at the property recently and didn't notice any smell. The area was clean, just a small circle which was getting damp. As you note, the property is in an ideal location.

The building is nicely located, right on the seafront near the marina, and is quite pleasant except for the fact that the back bedroom and bathroom were both infested with mould when we arrived, including wardrobe and curtains. The kitchen utensils and drawers had not been cleaned properly for quite a while and were not sanitary. ALL the bedding and towels were damp, and we had to buy replacement bedding in order to be able to stay. I'm sorry, I don't say this lightly but I would not recommend Seascape to any future holiday maker. By the way, the "caretaker" declares that he "no longer looks after the property". So, sorry - but don't do it!

Brilliant location . Property tired and desperately needs updating

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Recent reviews raising damp issues have been taken on board and I am working with the Owners of the properties above to try to find and resolve any issues. This is not something that can be fixed in the few hours of changeover or when the flat is occupied. The property is redecorated, upholstery cleaned and general maintenance done on a regular basis. It is, however, a Victorian conversion so is an older property.

Great location and well equipped but the flat had a serious lack of cleanliness.

While Seascape was described as having an excellent standard throughout it fell well short of this . The entrance and back courtyard appeared grubby, it felt damp and smelt musty, the couch was uncomfortable, the TV was very small and there was no DVD. However, the location was excellent being close to both town and the beach. Overall I felt it was expensive for what is fairly basic accommodation although in a good location.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. I'm sorry you don't feel things were excellent for your stay. The back courtyard has very recently been pressure washed so is not grubby but it can get litter blown into it on breezy days. The entrance is used by the other residents but is hoovered by my cleaners and was painted not long ago. There shouldn't have been any damp or smells and I'm not sure why you think you experienced them. After re-upholstering the sofa, I have decided it is entirely down to personal taste as to whether it is too soft or too hard! Everyone has different requirements. The DVD is in the side of the TV. The location is indeed lovely and I'm glad that you found it convenient for your stay.

We stayed as 4 adults in Seascape in Exmouth with plenty of room and comfort. The location is fabulous, seafront location, close to the harbour and only a short walk into the town centre. The flat itself could probably do with a bit of updating, in particular the couch but is fine unless you are hiring the place to stop in all day!!! As my father is from Exmouth and most of our family live in or close to the town we have visited many times over the years and recommend this appartment/flat/cottage, whatever you want to call it, far better than using a B&B or hotel.
