Whilst our holiday was good we were very disappointed with Seascape. This appeared to be very similar to several people's thoughts in the guestbook. I don't think negative feedback is ever taken on board. There was feedback at least to 2013 suggesting TLC was required. There were 2 areas of damp (the living room and the twin bedroom). The bathroom had areas mold/mildew. There were 2 cracked windows in the main bedroom. We also felt that the outside areas let the property down. The furniture in the living room needs replacing and information and leaflets need updating. The cleaner/caretaker needs to check light bulbs as at least 4 were not working when we arrived. We also found another child's clothes under one of the beds.

Cottage in a good position for everything . Property needs some TLC 😞 Exmouth is a lovely place and bus service very good .

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I'm sorry you feel that the property needs some TLC, however sadly, you do not say what so I am unable to address any issues. As commented previously, all rooms have been redecorated and refreshed. You have marked 'comfort and equipment' as only 5 out of 10 but most people say the property is very well equipped, so I'm not sure what could be added to improve the comfort and equipment levels. You can see from past customers that we have enjoyed high scores and so we were disappointed to receive the score that you gave. That said it was nice to see that you scored the location of the property high.

Above all the location makes Seascape an excellent holiday venue. The flat is spacious and well equipped. The only down side is that the decor and furniture is somewhat dated and could do with refreshing.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for taking the time to review Seascape. I’m sorry that you feel the décor and furniture is dated. Actually the main room was completely redecorated, carpeted and had new curtains approximately eighteen months ago. The bedrooms were done a few months before and the bathroom Jan 2014. The furniture is all solid wood and chosen to fit in with the style of the property. The sofa seat cushions were replaced when the room was redecorated. I keep the décor fairly neutral in order to make the property acceptable to most tastes and a relaxing place to stay. I also love the location and am pleased you found the property to be well equipped as it is my aim to ensure you have everything to hand in order to have a ‘home from home’ to stay by the seaside.

Ideally based for seafront and town centre. The accommodation was comfortable but need a few minor improvements i.e. pillows need replacing as very flat, large bedroom needs brighter lights and brighter curtains and bed linen as very drab against dark furniture. Front of property needs tidying i.e cutting down of bushes especially around door. Parking was a little restricted and would be difficult for a larger car.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review. Just to let you and other guests know that following the feedback I have purchased some new ‘super bounce’ pillows as the old ones had gone a little flat as you say. The curtains in the main bedroom were replaced with darker, thicker ones because guests complained the lighter ones let too much light through and they wanted thicker ones! I have always tried to ensure linen is of a more luxurious type than the standard plain white of some hotel chains. I had thought it was a nice contrast and gave a homely feel. The bushes at the front do seem to do very well and grow at an alarming rate. It is a constant job keeping them cut back and I’m sorry this wasn’t done for your stay. Although the back does look difficult for large car parking, I have parked large cars there, as have other guests, but it can look a bit daunting.

Overall a very comfortable flat. Bedrooms, kitchen & bathroom were fine, the lounge furniture definitely needs replacing & the outside sitting area is very untidy, dirty & unpleasant. Well equipped, quiet & very convenient for everything. The directions re. parking are not easy to follow, especially as the wall referred to as white has lost most of it's paint!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review. The lounge furniture is all solid wood and in good condition. As noted below, one of the easy chairs was replaced during the last year due to damage to one of the legs of the original one. The covers are washed regularly but do fade in the sun as they are in the window. The sofa cushions were also re-upholstered recently. I’m sorry the outside sitting area was not up to standard when you stayed. If the wind is blowing in a certain direction, we can get rubbish blowing in. I have updated the directions to the parking area following guest comments as the paint on the wall keeps washing off.
