Description

On the edge of Bodmin Moor, with unspoilt views across the moors, Port Isaac, Boscastle, Tintagel and the NT Lanhydrock are well worth a visit.

On the edge of beautiful Bodmin Moor

Located at the end of a private lane on the edge of Cornwall’s highest village, these beautifully converted holiday barns (refs B5718, B5719 and W44032) form a secluded courtyard of 200-year-old granite buildings. They have been refurbished and are tastefully furnished, with many character features, including slate floors, exposed beams and antique furnishings. Each has its own private sitting out area with unspoilt views over neighbouring fields or to the North Cornwall coast. The Roost (W44032) boasts a large picture window offering impressive views, and soft furnishings make the cottage feel warm and inviting.
Ideally situated on the edge of Bodmin Moor for exploring the landscape of tors and moorland. Enjoy riding, fishing and walking, and cycling on the Camel Trail. With windsurfing, sailing and surfing all within 12 miles, visitors can enjoy the best of coast and countryside, alternating their days between tranquil landscapes and seaside fun at the beaches on the north coast. Places of interest such as Port Isaac, Boscastle and Tintagel, as well as the National Trust property at Lanhydrock and the Eden Project are also within easy reach. Pub, renowned for its cuisine, and shop ¼ mile. Real ale pub 2½ miles.

Ground floor: Living/dining room with beams. Kitchen. First floor: 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet.

We had an excellent mid week break at this cottage. The owners are fantastic and nothing appears too much trouble to them. We arrived in the middle of a power cut due to a storm and candles had been provided in case power was not restored before darkness fell. The cottage is very cosy, comfortable, well equipped and warm. We will definitely look to visit here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

An extremely pleasant little cottage which is exactly as described. I don't normally like the idea of the owners living next door but in this case they were great and kept their distance to allow the cottage to be enjoyed (but they were great when needed). The cottage was also toasty warm with lovely decor and very clean.

A beautiful little cottage, tucked away in a peaceful location. Dog friendly, although we don't have one. There was a very warm welcome from the owners and a scrummy cream tea in the cottage for us to enjoy! a very pleasant surprise. Parking was just outside the cottage so no problem there. A small village shop is located a short distance away and the local pub does some very good food. All in all a great place to visit.

We had a fab few days and a lovely rest. Amazing owners and lovely location for walks and near the beach. We will be going back next year in the summer time.

Disappointing. Lack of heating apparently due to boiler overhaul. Disturbance on final night - late party (3 am) adjoining property.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; We're extremely disappointed to read this review as we take a lot of time and extra care to ensure all our guests have the most comfortable stay possible as can be seen in previous reviews. The central heating is available from October to April, this is stated in the property description, but we always offer alternative heating during the summer months if requested or we ourselves feel it is required. During May, we were updating the central heating system and told these guests. We offered alternative heating as we were concerned they may be cold due to the unseasonably lower temperatures. The offer was declined so I really don't know what else we could have done.
