Brilliant holiday again here at Rowan Cottage Like walking into our own place even though it’s 3 years since our last holiday here-very homely-like we had never been away So clean and well cared for Lovely location very quiet and relaxing on the edge of the woods Heard an owl a few nights and fell to sleep with my little son looking up at the stars through the skylight window Very sad to leave-we will be back

We all enjoyed our stay at Rowan Cottage. It was spotlessly clean and in a very peaceful situation. The only downside was the lighting. There were no ceiling lights in the lounge or dining room which made it very dull. A light is needed above the dining table and brighter lights in the lounge to make reading, etc easier. A couple of bulbs were not working and there were no spares. Also, the TV remote did not work and this had been pointed out earlier in the visitor book. There are only so many functions on the TV itself and we could only receive BBC1, BBC2, Alba and BBC News 24. There were no instructions for the TV in the kitchen and it was difficult to work.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are glad you enjoyed your stay, however if you had made contact with regard to your issues during your stay we would have rectified them for you. The television only needed to be re tuned and we have spare bulbs available, we have someone to help with such issues in the village so our response is speedy.

A very spacious, well equipped cottage. Lovely garden. Some more light above the dining table would have been nice.

Love, love, love this place have been before and have already booked to go again. The cottage is ideally placed to make the most of the fantastic area. We always find new things to do. The garden is really secure for kids and dogs and the weather is normally kind to us so great for BBQ s. The local woods are directly across the road where you can walk for miles. I dropped a mark on the comfort as the sofas are really past their best but we are normally so busy we never get time to sit on them for long and even if they were never replaced we would still continue to book. Definitely our favourite holiday cottage. Only wish we were going back this year instead of to the other ones we have booked. Never mind! See you next year for the usual two week booking!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your lovely comments and also your repeat bookings, it is true that there is a huge wealth of things to do in the area and definitely something for everyone. We do listen to our guest’s feedback and you are right that the sofas are past their best, a shopping trip is planned and hopefully we will regain that point for comfort on your next visit.

Very disappointing. Booked for a week but left after one day. Owners unwilling to offer any refund. Arrived via back of house which is only separated from the road by a low wall - lacking privacy. Location was disappointing. Lounge seating seems tired and this 'bare feeling' room is dominated by a large wood-burner with guard railings. Hall tight and dull. Double bedroom small with shower room which is like a corridor and has tiny sink. Upstairs rooms dull, and bathroom awkward due to sloping ceiling. Had an electrical problem in lounge which affected all kitchen sockets and wouldn't reset simply. Owner, who seems to be the maintenance person, came to fix it but he is based over one hundred miles away. House was certainly clean.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We strive to offer our guests a great experience in a clean, well maintained house. While constructive feedback is always welcome this feedback does not appear to be the case which is a shame. We trust future guests will rely on our other feedback for a balanced review of our property.

Lovely property in a great location. Only issue was the lack of hot water for a bath. This made holidaying with two toddlers a bit less easy. Otherwise great cottage

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for booking with us and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. Had you notified us that you were having difficulties with the water we would have been able to rectify the situation for you. The water is heated from an oil fired combination boiler and running the bath taps at a slower speed will give you a full bath of hot water as it has time to heat on the way through the combination tank.

A lovely warm and comfortable cottage - no restrictions on heating - important in January! The woodburner in the lounge was very efficient and easy to light. The cottage was immaculately clean and there was everything we needed including basic supplies, tea, coffee, sugar, salt , flour, condiments etc. Excellent location - very close to woods for dog walking and a short walk to village centre with a friendly pub and a local shop. Lovely garden with many bird feeders and bird food was supplied. Only downside was lack of broadband and virtually no phone reception. Also we did find the subdued lighting in the lounge made it difficult to read ( old eyes!)
