English Country Cottages

From a touch of luxury to characterful heritage, experience one of our truly inspiring holiday properties.

Ideal for families, guests have free use of a shared swimming pool, as well as a games room and play area.

"Peace and tranquillity set amongst Yorkshire’s finest countryside and long stretches of magnificent beaches..."

Steeped in history these former barn buildings have been lovingly restored using all of the original materials. Presented to a very high standard and offering spacious accommodation, each holiday cottage has its own enclosed garden and decked patio area for sole use, to while away the hours overlooking stunning paddocks where deer and foxes play. Guests have free use of the owners’ private indoor heated swimming-pool, a communal games room and a children’s play area. The complex is surrounded by open countryside and a newly planted broad leaf woodland area, and is only four miles from the pretty village of Brandesburton. Oaklands wedding venue is situated in the 150 acres of woodland that surround the properties. Struncheon Hill Farm is a haven for those who enjoy having fun around water with a river, lake and pond nearby. Fishing, canal cruises and a Jet Ski and Diving School are less than half a mile from the door. Visitors will find locally an 18-hole golf course, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, a parachute and gliding centre, and an RSPB bird sanctuary.
Just a short drive leads to the traditional seaside resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Filey with miles of Blue Flag sandy beaches, colourful promenades, inns and tea rooms in abundance, offering the perfect family day out. Walking and cycling tracks surround the cottages and there is easy access to the Yorkshire Wolds - one of Yorkshire’s best-kept secrets. Robin Hoods Bay is well worth a visit, where children will love the chance to search for fossils amongst the rock pools. For stunning views, Flamborough Head is a must and visitors will delight in the puffin colonies that cling to the cliff side. For an alternative day trip, York will not disappoint and meandering along the cobbled streets of ‘The Shambles’, packed with curio and antique shops, as well as many museums including The National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre will keep both adults and children alike amused for hours.
Explore British heritage when visiting stately homes and halls such as Burton Agnes Hall with its large collection of Monet and Renoir paintings, or Sledmere Hall with its beautiful gardens only a
30-minute drive away. The attractive market town of Beverley 12 miles away, where visitors can enjoy ancient cobbled streets, quaint shops and friendly local people, completes the area of peace and tranquility surrounding Struncheon Hill Farm. Shops, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

Large open-plan living/dining room, well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen, wooden floor and vaulted ceiling. Two bedrooms, one double and one twin. Shower room with toilet. Wide central stairs to first floor: Double bedroom with 5ft four-poster bed, TV and vaulted ceiling. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower over Victorian roll-top bath and toilet.

Well equipped lovely barn, lovely thought with the coffee, tea, sugar, milk, prosecco and flowers. The sound of the birds and no cars is great. The barn was very comfortable and ample space for 8 of us, Swimming pool and games room really good kept the kids entertained. Having no wifi took some getting use to but was nice to talk and play games instead of being attached to a phone or iPad! The Dacre pub in the village is superb for food good varied menu and decent portion, doesn't look much from the outside but is big and nice on the inside would recommend booking as it gets quite busy. Overall we had a good time and would definitely recommend

We were a group of 5 ladies celebrating a birthday and we had a wonderful time. The cottage was a great size for out party and the grounds were very well kept. Everything we needed was there, the indoor pool was wonderful and the games room was a bonus with a full size snooker table, 2 pool tables and dart board. We had a lovely clear night and went out to watch the stars as the sky is very dark there. I would recommend the site for anyone from families with young children to teenagers and for those of an older age who want somewhere with great facilities and within easy reach of the coast. There was a welcome pack of tea/coffee etc waiting for us and a lovely bonus of a beautiful vase of flowers.

When we were following the directions to the property we were saying to each other "where have we booked?" The property, as is stated in the directions, 4 miles down a lane, and it is! It is very remote but is absolutely perfect! Once we turned into the drive we knew we were going to have a great holiday, and we did. The pool and outside play area were a great hit with the kids and allowed us to easily come and go, backwards and forwards to the cottage as we needed without worrying if we had everything. For a family of 8 this was very helpful in relieving the stress. Our dog also loved the free run of the paddock, making her holiday too! The owners were very amenable, friendly and welcoming. We had a few days exploring the local attractions which were easy to reach from the property as you were back onto the main roads within 5 minutes. The village shop had everything we needed and the chippy was excellent. We had a meal in The Black Swan which was very nice and the staff in here were very friendly and welcoming. Again, for a family of 8 this was important to us and made us feel at ease. We will definitely be booking again at this cottage, it was excellent.

We had a wonderful stay. We loved the surroundings and the high standard of the accommodation and facilities and would definitely return. The welcome pack was very much appreciated. The temperature of the pool was a little cooler than we'd have liked but we still used it. We were kept entertained with fly squatting as you'd expect on farm land near water. The cottage was renovated to a high standard and we were all quite comfortable as 2 families with a teenager and 3 other children aged 9+ and a dog. We would love to return.

Remote location, lack of atmosphere and lack of finishing touches in the cottage.
