English Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Ideal for families, guests have free use of a shared swimming pool, as well as a games room and play area.

"Peace and tranquillity set amongst Yorkshire’s finest countryside and long stretches of magnificent beaches..."

Steeped in history these former barn buildings have been lovingly restored using all of the original materials. Presented to a very high standard and offering spacious accommodation, each holiday cottage has its own enclosed garden and decked patio area for sole use, to while away the hours overlooking stunning paddocks where deer and foxes play. Guests have free use of the owners’ private indoor heated swimming-pool, a communal games room and a children’s play area. The complex is surrounded by open countryside and a newly planted broad leaf woodland area, and is only four miles from the pretty village of Brandesburton. Oaklands wedding venue is situated in the 150 acres of woodland that surround the properties. Struncheon Hill Farm is a haven for those who enjoy having fun around water with a river, lake and pond nearby. Fishing, canal cruises and a Jet Ski and Diving School are less than half a mile from the door. Visitors will find locally an 18-hole golf course, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, a parachute and gliding centre, and an RSPB bird sanctuary.
Just a short drive leads to the traditional seaside resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Filey with miles of Blue Flag sandy beaches, colourful promenades, inns and tea rooms in abundance, offering the perfect family day out. Walking and cycling tracks surround the cottages and there is easy access to the Yorkshire Wolds - one of Yorkshire’s best-kept secrets. Robin Hoods Bay is well worth a visit, where children will love the chance to search for fossils amongst the rock pools. For stunning views, Flamborough Head is a must and visitors will delight in the puffin colonies that cling to the cliff side. For an alternative day trip, York will not disappoint and meandering along the cobbled streets of ‘The Shambles’, packed with curio and antique shops, as well as many museums including The National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre will keep both adults and children alike amused for hours.
Explore British heritage when visiting stately homes and halls such as Burton Agnes Hall with its large collection of Monet and Renoir paintings, or Sledmere Hall with its beautiful gardens only a
30-minute drive away. The attractive market town of Beverley 12 miles away, where visitors can enjoy ancient cobbled streets, quaint shops and friendly local people, completes the area of peace and tranquility surrounding Struncheon Hill Farm. Shops, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

Large open-plan living/dining room, well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen, wooden floor and vaulted ceiling. Two bedrooms, one double and one twin. Shower room with toilet. Wide central stairs to first floor: Double bedroom with 5ft four-poster bed, TV and vaulted ceiling. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower over Victorian roll-top bath and toilet.

Great holiday- out in the country side very peaceful ideal for the dogs- The pool was fantastic and it was lovely to have the games room. Very clean and well equipped the only problem was the beds are not great for tall people. We would go there again.

This cottage is ideal if you have dogs. A good 4.5 miles from shops and pubs though which means a drive down a single road.

Absolutely wonderful cottage with warm pool and huge games room. Hosts could not do enough for us. Lovely touches everywhere making it homely and the spirit of Christmas started as soon as we stepped in. Big paddock for dog was ideal. Very peaceful area, only sound came from the local pheasants. Perfect for all ages.

Mention of water danger adjacent to the house in description may put some people off, however these areas were very well fenced off so little or no danger to small children.

I was in the downstairs room with twin beds. There was a chest of drawers but nowhere to hang clothes like shirts. I suggest a horizontal rod be fixed above the lower part of each bed, about 6 feet from the ground. Otherwise the holiday was fine. There was a light in the kitchen which kept going on and off; I left a note in the kitchen about that.

Just back having spent a week at Riverview with 4 children and 4 adults. The property was in an idyllic location with lots of safe space for the children to play. The house was spacious and charming and met all our needs. We used the swimming pool, which was amazing, almost every day. The owners were very pleasant and quick to address any little issues we had. The only tiny drawback was the number of flies, but given the property is located on farmlands with water nearby, this wasn't out of the ordinary and again, the owners were quick to recognise and address this. Overall, a very enjoyable stay in a beautiful location.

This is a really lovely cottage on a fantastic site. The grounds have lots of space to play or stroll and birdwatch. The enclosed paddock for exercising the dogs was a brilliant start and end to the day. We all enjoyed the swimming pool and had a pre-breakfast and pre-dinner swim every day! The games room was fun too. The cottage and the swimming pool were spotlessly clean! There were a couple of things we missed in the kitchen equipment, and we didn't quite fathom the oven, but this in no way spoiled the holiday. The patio and garden area is great for bbqs and swingball. Our party ranged from teens to nineties and a lovely time was had by all!

Well equipped lovely barn, lovely thought with the coffee, tea, sugar, milk, prosecco and flowers. The sound of the birds and no cars is great. The barn was very comfortable and ample space for 8 of us, Swimming pool and games room really good kept the kids entertained. Having no wifi took some getting use to but was nice to talk and play games instead of being attached to a phone or iPad! The Dacre pub in the village is superb for food good varied menu and decent portion, doesn't look much from the outside but is big and nice on the inside would recommend booking as it gets quite busy. Overall we had a good time and would definitely recommend
