We love Seahouses and have been many times but this is the first time we tried Puffin Cottage. It's in a good location in Seahouses. The cottage had nearly everything you could think of and it's clear the owners have tried hard to make it comfortable inside. Good space for a family. Not the most welcoming atmosphere though- as soon as we unloaded our things we were confronted rudely by a neighbour telling us he was the parking attendant, describing to the inch where he wanted us to park and telling us to move our car because he wanted to use one of the Puffin Cottage spaces half of which he said was actually his. He made sure we didn't get chance to use this all week. We didn't need two spaces but the interference from the neighbour was unpleasant and if it isn't a one- off it looks like it would be a problem for guests needing two spaces. Several comments in the visitors book in the cottage show previous guests have also had problems from neighbours being very "territorial" regarding parking. Seems very unfair on the owners who are not on site; this looks like it may be out of their hands and they have tried so hard to make the cottage a comfortable place.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We endeavour to ensure that all of our guests know where to park their vehicles when they arrive in Braidstone Square where the cottage is situated. Each guest is sent an information sheet about the cottage and a parking plan which shows where the two allocated bays are situated. Unfortunately on this occasion the guest did not look at the plan before arriving and tried to park diagonally across two bays thereby parking in a neighbour’s bay. When the neighbour asked the guest to move and pointed out where they should park, jokingly calling himself the parking attendant, this did not go down well. There are only two comments in the house book in 3 years, not several, about prior incidents in relation to parking, again these incidents arose because the guests had not looked at the plan and not parked in the right bay.

What a jewel to have found such a fantastic cottage. Been to seahouses twice a year for the last ten years and this is our favourite cottage. Everything we wanted and more. Will definitely book again.

Lovely cottage near the harbour with its own parking and close to all the heart of the village. Plenty of room for six people, two double bedrooms and a room with bunk beds.

Puffin cottage is clean, spacious and comfortable. Ideal for families- nice to have books and dvds for children. Would be great to have a cot and highchair available. Cottage in quiet area (no noise at all from local pub) but steps away from the harbour, and a couple of minutes to local facilities. A great cottage in an ideal area to explore Northumberland.
