Pebble Cottage sits in an elevated position within walking distance of Holt. Footpaths from the door lead straight out onto open countryside.

This adjoining holiday property lies close to the pretty Georgian market town of Holt, within walking distance of shops, cafés and restaurants, and a few minutes’ drive from sandy beaches and RSPB nature reserves. Enjoy a trip on the steam railway - passing through unspoilt countryside and pretty, rural villages. Muckleburgh Military Collection and Norfolk Shire Horse Centre are just a short drive away. Close to Thursford village with its Thursford Collection and November show. Shop 500 yards.

It was a lovely place to stay. Warm and very comfortable. The beds were especially comfy. Very cosy indeed. 2 min walk to town so very convenient for shops and eateries.

We've stayed here twice now and found it to be a comfortable, convenient base for exploring Holt and surrounding area.

Lovely clean, quaint cottage - brilliantly situated for our weekend at Holt. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again ourselves.

Not so great compared to last year. Pebble cottage was not ready when we arrived, a thick layer of dust throughout and beds not made. Although sorted, not a great way to start our holiday. Also, not keen on the £20 heating supplement, why not increase the price of the cottage?

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We were naturally very upset to hear that the cottage had not been cleaned on your arrival and as you say ,not the best start to your holiday. We did respond as quickly as possible but despite our best efforts you found the cottage dusty. At the moment we are refurbishing the cottage and as it is very popular it is difficult to slot these jobs in and unfortunately your arrival coincided with the bathroom being re tiled. This does create a lot of dust which can linger despite diligent cleaning. As to the £20 gas charge, this was not our choice but was suggested by the rental company. We have now cancelled this clause. We hope you return to the refurbished Pebble Cottage.

We recently spent a very pleasant week at pebble cottage . We know Norfolk very well and the position of the cottage provided an excellent base for our coastal holiday. Holt was a few footsteps away providing us with lots of local cafes, deli's, antiques and gift shops. The cottage was smaller than we thought but perfectly formed. If we had one complaint it would be that the toppers on the single beds kept slipping off, the easiest solution was to take them off. James,12.

I was very disappointed when on arrival I had to defrost the fridge , and scrabble about in an upstairs cupboard for tea towels . The fittings on the bath and shower were rickety and I never managed to get the shower to work .I washed my hair over the kitchen sink . When running the hot and cold tap together in the bath the cold tap failed to work. The shower panel had clearly not been cleaned . No mirrors near plugs for hair drying , and no long mirror anywhere in the cottage . I was staying on my own and cannot imagine how four people could comfortably stay here . The whole cottage is " tired" and in need of a good overhaul I am used to paying fairly high prices , particularly as I am on my own , but pebble cottage does not in anyway reach the standard I have enjoyed in other places . Holt is a lovely town that I know well, and yes we are in the holiday season , but in August I will be returning for the fourth time to a fabulously equipped cottage on the outskirts of equally attractive Monmouth ...paying the same money for a stylish place for 7 people . The position ofPebble Cottage is excellent , and the owner tried (at presumably long distance to help on the issue of the fridge) however for me it was all too late, so sadly I cannot recommend this holiday let .

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We were sorry that you had the problem on your arrival with the ice compartment on the fridge and had to look for a tea towel. We had discussions with our cleaner and this will be monitored from now on. The shower is not complicated or of poor quality and you are the only guest who has had problems operating the shower or the hand shower in the bath. Obviously if you mix hot and cold water you do not get cold water coming through. You contacted us on your first day saying you were unhappy about the cleaning, we sent the cleaner round to clean to your satisfaction, as we take cleanliness in our cottage very seriously, but she was refused entry. Help was also offered by our next door neighbour, but again this was refused. As to the size of the cottage, it is clearly shown as spacious but cosy and obviously rental costs are affected by location. I am sure Monmouth is charming but it is not on the North Norfolk coast. It appears your initial arrival coloured your opinion of our cottage and anything we tried to do to help was not going to change your view. We take customer satisfaction very seriously and we are sorry you did not see it that way.

Amazing location, just 30 seconds from Holt. Compact but well kept cottage. No Wifi though, and phone signal was not great.

Cottage was clean and comfortable. TV was good with decent reception and available hdmi inputs. There was no wifi which was a shame as the reception on O2 and EE was very poor (non existent in the cottage and a weak 3G data signal for EE outside - O2 had no data outside). There was a BT wifi with fon nearby but we couldn't join it. The garden/courtyard was nice in the sun but we didnt have to share it with anyone. It's a piece of paved concrete raised up some steps from the cottages with a set of picnic tables and chairs for each cottage. It isn't at all private (it wasn't advertised as such) and it is close to the road so you can hear traffic but it was still pleasant to sit outside. The cottage next door allows pets and they had a dog but spent most of the day away from the cottage. I would say be careful of the step outside the front door as there is a very uneven bit of paving which a member of our party stumbled on, causing them to cut their knees and narrowly avoiding hitting their head. Once we knew it was there we were careful but it could do with smoothing over. The bed was comfortable but we did bring our own mattress topper. The blinds were the worst for keeping out the light - they are white so when it gets light outside, it's as if the lights are turned on. We ended up going to bed as soon as it was dark then rising as soon as it was light (around 6.30am). There are 2 sofas in the front room which were really comfy and the kitchen was well stocked with dish washer and utensils etc. The fridge could do with the seal looking at as we had some condensation in there and the ice box was completely full of ice so that it was hard to close the door once we had opened it. We ended up chipping the ice away with a knife as our first job in the cottage. Still, it was very pleasant to cook a meal and relax on the sofas in the evening. There is a parking space right by the entrance to the courtyard which was nice and the location is excellent for popping into Holt. It took about 5 minutes to walk to the local Budgens to pick up supplies and there are some lovely places to visit and eat with a couple of good pubs and a steak restaurant. It is also very easy to get on to the main road and drive to Norwich (40mins) or Wroxham and Cromer. The bathroom was nice with a good shower and fittings etc and the decor for the rooms was very nice, clean and relaxing. We would stay again but we would hope the owner could spring for some wifi access in the future as we felt for the price that it should have been included. I've stayed in cheaper cottages that had wifi and cottages that cost the same and had wifi, wireless remote control speakers in every room and better amenities. While this was still a nice stay, the lack of wifi felt a bit cheap. We would also have to work out some way of dealing with the bedroom blinds such as bringing our own blackout blinds to pin up so we can sleep past 7am.
