Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Located in the International Dark Sky Park with its own private hot tub, this property is in an idyllic position to stargaze after a day of exploring.

These three lodges, each with a hot tub on the decking, offer differently styled accommodation for groups of six or eight. Ideal for holidays or visiting the two large wedding venues nearby in Otterburn. Leafy Run (ref W44043) is a contemporary style lodge with a hot tub, and has a peaceful decked area. Decorated to a very good standard, and slightly smaller than its sister lodge (W44043), Squirrel Lodge is the first lodge on the edge of this small exclusive park. Set over two levels, this quirky and unusual lodge is a lovely retreat for relaxing in, whether you are indulging in the private hot tub or sitting on either of the two verandahs. Leafy Retreat (ref UKC2663) has high spec granite worktops in the kitchen, built-in bedroom furniture and lovely bathrooms. With a fully renovated restaurant on site, the lodges are less than a mile from the centre of the village of Otterburn, on the very edge of the National Park. The park is just inside the Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park, the largest in Europe, ideal for stargazers and astronomers. The village has a mill shop, and the shop/café sells local produce. A highly acclaimed wedding venue, The Petit Chateau is easily accessed only a mile away and guests can enjoy staying in the lodges and having some down time after the wedding. The long wooded drive up to the park sets the scene for your break away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

A perfect base for couples or families to explore the Northumberland National Park, Kielder Forest and observatory, and the Borders. Situated 16 miles from the Border Counties, outdoor enthusiasts will love this location which is a favourite with walkers and adventure seekers. Bellingham is close by and has a choice of tea rooms, pubs and village shops. A day trip to Alnwick, with its famous castle, and the Northumberland Heritage Coast, which is peppered with castles and beaches, make for fine days out. Hadrians Wall is only a few miles away and is steeped in history, with Roman forts and museums along the way. Hexham and Rothbury are easily accessible, and have plenty of pubs and shops. Beach 35 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub ¾ mile and restaurant on-site.

Amazing amazing place to stay. Washing machine door broken was the only downfall! We had a great xmas! Not much near by apart from a local shop which is great in one breath but going out for food was a feat in itself being nearly 40 miles from the cottage.

We were attending my sons wedding at the petite chateau so we hired two of the lodges at Leafy Run. Both were excellent, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We spent the wedding night at the venue but wished we had stayed in the lodge. Lovely location for walking. Great for a relaxing break.

Comfortable and modern; well equipped and suitable for families. Pleasant walks within the wooded estate and about a mile from the village. We enjoyed meals at the Coach House 150 yards away and at a pub in the village. A lot of new lodges being completed oppposite but minimal disturbance. Hot tub was excellent, maintaining its temperature. Some form of awning would be useful though as it rained heavily one day. Only drawback (?) was the absence if wifi which meant the youngsters had to converse more! Would happily recommend Leafy Run.

We enjoyed our stay at leafy run, however they was several issues with the lodge, being; Flashing PIR light outside a bedroom window. Broken door handle on the childrens bedroom door. Leaking kettle. Water leak under the kitchen sink. Poor quality pans and oven trays for a family of eight. BBQ was found in poor and dirty condition.

Leafy run was a last minute find to get away for a few days with our family (children 19, 17 and 11 plus one dog). It had plenty of space for everyone with all the equipment we needed. The hot tub was fantastic, particularly in the evening, and a real treat. Dog walks straight from the door and wonderful countryside all around. Any minor issues were fixed straight away by the owner and cleaner who were really helpful. The building work nearby didn't affect us much at all and it will be interesting to see how the area develops. Would certainly book again.

Couldn't fault the cabin, is spotlessly clean and has everything you could need, was disappointed with the view of a building site though 🙁 And no reference made to this during booking so was a nasty surprise on arrival. Location was isolated but that didn't spoil it, just make sure you take everything you need with you !!!

Potentially a nice place but currently under construction the majority of the site and something which we weren't made aware of. But didn't let it spoil the holiday. No local pub as the one mentioned in the description is more of a hotel as opposed to a traditional pub. Beautiful area and once the site is completed it would be a great place to stay.

We stayed as a group of 6 for three nights. Lovely cabin and great size hot tub but the living space was quite small. Couldn't fit all 6 of us on the sofa. Place was very clean but only one rather small towel (and hand towel) each provided, don't forget to bring your own!! Worst thing about this place is the window dressings, or lack of them. There are only a set of thin, white blinds up and you may as well not bother. Despite not going to bed until 3am we were wide awake by 7 because of the daylight. We left a day early just to get some sleep. This cabin had been quite private and set away from the other properties but, while we were there, new properties were being built right next to leafy run which would put us off returning. Also, good luck finding it, there is no signage!

We have stayed at leafy run before and enjoyed our stay, we did not choose to return this time but due to our chosen holiday being unavailable at the last minute we were offered leafy run as an alternative, which was great. We were told that there was building work going on so we're not surprised when we arrived however this did take the edge off the holiday. The lodge itself is lovely and the fact that it has double beds in more than one room is a big plus. The bin area beside the BBQ has a lot of cigarette ends around it and the bin here was full however this could be explained away as we were a last minute booking. There are no instructions for the cooker! as we do not have electric cookers it took some time to workout the hob again.
