Description

Easily accommodating 16 guests, ideally situated just a mile from sandy beaches, and great for discovering Dorset.

This magnificent listed building, with 8 bedrooms and 9 bath/shower rooms, offers wonderful character holiday accommodation in a residential area, just a mile away from the lovely sandy beaches of Swanage Bay and a large selection of restaurants and shops. Newton Manor House dates back to the early 1600s with walls and roof built from local Purbeck stone. The house retains a lot of its original charm with ornate oak panelling and wood carvings. The principal rooms overlook the serene landscaped gardens, while the first and second floor rooms offer far-reaching views across the small seaside town of Swanage, to the sea and coast beyond. The town of Swanage nestles peacefully amidst the beautiful Isle of Purbeck countryside, and is set between the Heads of Durlston and Studland, sloping gently down to the water’s edge. This small pleasant resort has an array of restaurants, interesting shops and a small theatre, not to mention spectacular floral displays in the parks and gardens. In season, pleasure cruisers leave the pier daily, bound for Poole, Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight. The Lifeboat Centre at Pervil Point is open to the public and fascinating to visit, whilst Durlston Country Park provides magnificent cliff walks and views of Anvil Point Lighthouse. A trip aboard Swanage’s restored steam railway also makes for a fun day out, winding its way through pretty scenery to the ruins of Corfe Castle. Magnificent coastal walks extend north from the town to the National Trust sandy beaches at Studland while the South West Coastal Path leads to Kimmeridge, Tyneham and West Lulworth in the west, much of which is National Trust land and rich in local flora and fauna. The larger seaside resorts of Poole and Bournemouth are just a ferry ride away, boasting a huge range of shops, theatres, museums, cinemas, and restaurants. The entire coast is excellent for trying out all manner of watersports - windsurfing, water-skiing, yachting and surfing to name just a few. Fishing and tennis are available a mile away in Swanage, and a local golf course can be found nearby. Shop ¼ mile.

Impressive and homely feel. We were a party of 12 and loved the accommodation. Very well equipped and would definitely return.

What can I say, we had the most amazing weekend at Newton Manor, we celebrated a 30th and 60th joint birthday and everyone was blown away with the house and surroundings, as the house was very well equipped and the house still had its character and charm. With the beaches and town being in walking distance and Corfe just a short drive, it had everything we needed. Also the weather was fantastic, so all in all an 11 out of 10 from all of us, would love to stay again.

Wonderful house! We were a group of thirteen adults there to celebrate a 60th birthday. The house was perfect, plenty of space everywhere, very well equipped and warm and cosy for a February stay. We used Crabapple catering to cook for us on the Saturday night and they were excellent. Highly recommended.

A great venue for a family party. Swanage town is a short walk away and the facilities in the house are perfect for self catering. The lounge and dining room are the perfect party area. All in all, a great experience!

We had a lovely stay in Newton Manor House - we were a full compliment of 16 adults and a toddler, but the house had loads of space for everyone. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and cooking a large meal for everyone was no problem. Another reviewer mentioned the dining tables - we rearranged these into an H shape (rather than U) and easily fitted everyone comfortably and nobody had their back to someone else. Having two dishwashers is inspired in a house that size. The bedrooms were all spacious and comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend.

Excellent value at last years pricing. The new pricing means it is not as good and therefore we chose to go elsewhere.

We are a group of 7 couples who meet annually for a Naval reunion. Everything we wanted was available to us in the property with plenty of crockery, glasses and with 2 dishwashers it was a great help. There were games in a cupboard which we found part way through the stay and the pool table was well used as you would imagine. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious and the beds welcoming. Grounds are very good and the neighbours nice. The only downside is there seems to be a known issue with the water going off in the attic bathroom which the maintenance guy knew about but the plumber needs to sort. Also, there is only one supermarket in town which gets full and parking awkward so maybe go early to get supplies. Would definitely stay there again.

Newton Manor House was perfect for what we needed. Every room has its own bathroom, beds are comfortable, living room was large yet cosy. Kitchens were well equipped and an abundance of anything you would need. Lots of iPod docks to play music throughout the house. It was a beautiful holiday and we would all recommend this house for other large groups!

This is the second year I have stayed here. Eight adults and seven grandchildren. It suited us all the only concern we had was the youngest aged two running with the older children in the garden as there was various concrete areas. It was very well equipped, everyone had their own bedroom and ensuit. Having two dishwashers made meal time so easy to clear away. Will go back again.
