Beautifully set house that will have been spectacular when first completed but now needs a little TLC in places. That however didn't stop us all enjoying our stay, coming back all rejuvenated. (A warning about the on ramp might have helped us nearly bottoming out the car though, be warned, there's even advice in the guest book how to avoid it).

We had a couple of small issues, but overall the accommodation was quiet and peaceful, comfortable (maybe not so much the sofa), clean, convenient and well-equipped. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if we were in the area.

Part of a complex of cottages renovated to a very high standard. Off road parking is shared between the cottages - inconsiderate parking the week we were there meant there was a limited number of spaces. Some housekeeping issues when we arrived - fridge hadn't been cleaned, jam on the throws in one of the bedrooms and cushions on the bed weren't clean. These have been reported to the owner and did not spoil the holiday. Lovely drench shower downstairs, however upstairs bathroom has a free standing bath and no shower so still queues for the shower in the mornings. Living room is up a steep set of stairs (this should be considered for those with mobility problems), and has a lovely wood burning stove. Sofas, however, are well past their best; are very soft, lumpy and are very hard to get out of once you are sitting. Would come back here as is very central to a lot of attractions, however housekeeping between visitors needs to be reviewed and some maintenance issues are in need of resolving.

Murton Cottage is really well located just off the A1. Very handy for travel to visitor attractions and Berwick for shopping/petrol etc. Would like to point out that the sofas need replacing but apart from that we would certainly book again and recommend to family and friends. With an enclosed garden for the dogs making it ideal.
