Lovely owner who lives next door, she thought of everything including dog biscuits, delicious homemade cake and grocery supplies.

Monks Thatch is a lovely location. My wife and I had a very relaxing weeks holiday there. This is an ideal place for watching passing wildlife; wild birds and even the odd pheasant can just pop up in front of your window. It is only a short drive down into beautiful little village of Otterton. Also, Sidmouth and Budleigh Stalterton are quite easy to get to. There are lots of other interesting places around to visit and explore too. We would definitely recommend a stay at this great holiday cottage.

We left early for personal reasons. However I do not appreciate additional charges for electricity and oil ( £33 for 5 days!) especially when the property was cold when we arrived. we could not use the shower as the pressure was so low. It should be pumped. Also the general cleaning was not to the standard I expect. However, the bathroom and kitchen were fine. A new fridge freezer would be an advantage ; It may use less electricity if it was not on all the time.

Comfortable and cosy cottage. Lovely friendly owner. Near coastpath but rather remote. Good for walkers.

A beautiful "dog friendly" holiday cottage in an outstanding location. It is very well equipped and very comfortable, I wish we could have brought it home with us. The gardens are quite magnificent and it was so quiet and peaceful. We have been self catering dog owners for many years and this is quite the nicest place we have found.Sally was such a caring and friendly owner, we enjoyed everything about the holiday and will definitely return as it was the perfect place for us.

A lovely cottage in a delightful location near the coastal path. The cottage is attached to the owners house which was not evident at booking . It didnt affects us and we did have access to the gardens which were also very nice and the owner was approachable and very helpful, however the weather was pretty rough windy and wet for a lot of our stay so we did not do as much walking as we would have liked and could'nt use the pool in the garden which would have been nice. Its a fine location if you like isolation and to be near the coastal path as its tucked down a narrow access road at top of a hill. The cottage is a good walk to Otterton which is a lovely village with lovely lanes for walking , enjoyed the Mill especially and found the food there excellent and service fine, sold great produce . The Community store and local pub we could walk too, but a bit of a hill to get back home .

Was surprised with Bill t end for 16 pouns 4 elec and 9 pouns of for gas.The central heating was only on for a few hours for bathroom and this was only for3 days as we had good weather.I am sure this Bill was 4 the people who were before us and did a runner so didnt pay their bill.the bill was on the outside door handle, very unusual ,did the owner think we were also going to do a runner. This bill was excessive as i only pay 30 pounds a month for both per month I.e. 30 days not 7 .Albeit we only used both for 3 days for a few hours. If the previous people didn't pay their bill I shouldn't have to pay it.If this is the case the owner is on a win win.
