This is a great base for exploring an undeniably beautiful area; I'd heartily recommend the Bowling Green pub for a really friendly welcome and good atmosphere. Food in there is reasonably priced and the staff really helpful. Personally i'd avoid the Shoulder of Mutton who didn't seem that keen to serve anyone promptly! The property itself only has one downside in the sense that parking is a little awkward but there are spaces about 100 yards away once you've unloaded, which can be done right outside. Otherwise, all that you'd need is there and the welcome was warm.

A very pleasent little cottage which was well supplied and had little extras like a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits. ..tea coffee sugar and milk supplied. The only down sides were we had to contact the owner direct as we left messages for the caretaker which weren't returned. Then when we arrived the thermostat for the heating had been broken by the previous renter's secondly not a big thing but more of a annoyances none of the remote controls worked.

Asked about parking when booking and assured there was but it was 75yds up the lane at the very least and further away on some occasions. Kitchen very dated, oven dirty, broken draws and cupboard doors and poor selection of pans and oven trays. Coat hook had fallen off the wall. Shower constantly drips. Remote controls for TV etc do not work. No information supplied on recycling system or bin day. Property below standard and in need of considerable updating to be let out.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. Firstly, I would like to apologise for the issues you have listed with your stay. We take great pride in providing a comfortable get away for all our customers and it appears this may not have happened in this instance. In terms of the specific points you've raise: Parking - The cottage sits on a hill in the scenic historical village of Bradwell. This means that the parking for the cottage is on the street, usually within 10-15 yards away from the door. There is a lane where you can temporarily stop in front of the kitchen door to unload/load. As your stay was over the Christmas holidays, the parking would have become slightly more difficult as more people would have been visiting relatives etc. These, unfortunately, are the trade-offs that happen with the historical setting with which the cottage sits in. The broken drawer, cupboard door, coat hook, dripping shower etc. - Again this was a timing issue. Our cottage is very popular for most of the year meaning that we must book our maintenance during the quiet periods. For us, that period is January meaning that in fact, the issues which you have listed have in fact now been remediated during our recent maintenance work. The remote controls and information on recycling/refuse - I believe that you spoke to Janet, our lovely caretaker, and she offered to come to the cottage to give you the usual tour, part of which would have been to explain how to use the Sky remote, where the recycling is placed in the courtyard (Janet takes care of putting out the bins/recycling so our guests don't have to). In fact she would have been able to show you where to park that's normally much closer than 75 yards away however you chose not to have her come over so unfortunately that normal channel of communication wasn't available. Having read your review however, I have added instructions on how to use the remote controls and the recycling/refuse policy of the cottage in the welcome booklet in case others do not take Janet up on her welcome tour. Once again, please accept our apologies for any shortcomings in our cottage during your stay.
