A renovated cottage on a working farm with idyllic views of fells. A short stroll from the lake and amenities with further attractions at Penrith – 6 miles.

Minutes from Lake Ullswater

Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants ½ mile.

Well this was a bit of a first for us, a cottage break at Christmas with two grown up daughters, son in law, 14 month grandchild, Nessie daughters dog and on Christmas Day our son and his wife and two boys joined us for the day; naturally we had reservations about the oven etc but kitchen well equipped and as everywhere very clean. It was lovely decor throughout the cottage and we were in the downstairs room; brilliant for me with mobility issues and you got a wonderful views of the mountains which turned snowy whilst we were there. The shared utility was useful, both girls doing their washing and useful having a dog shower. We were greeted with homemade cake and Amanda checked several times that all was okay. The cottage had been decorated for Christmas which was appreciated

Great base and very comfortable with everything you could possibly need. 3 pubs only a short walk away through the fields. Lots of walks...equally just as nice to stay in with the fire!

Excellent location, nice walk to Pooley Bridge. An extra is the showering facility for your muddy dog. Spacious bedrooms - had a good family holiday for 7 people and 2 dogs.

This was our fourth visit to Barton Hall Farm and, as always, the cottage was superb - warm, clean and so cosy with the log fire in the evenings. The owners, Amanda and Nigel, are a lovely couple, very welcoming but never intrusive. Nigel has made a doggy shower which is great after a muddy walk with Misty our dog! The flowers and scones upon arrival, the great walk-in shower, lovely beds and fantastic views from the cottage make it a very memorable holiday. We can't wait to return to our favourite cottage in the Lake District!
