Description

Nestled in the glorious Yorkshire countryside, Graydon Cottage is ideal for a romantic break or a base for exploring this picturesque area.

These lovingly renovated cottages provide a relaxing retreat from everyday life. Next to the owner’s house, they are located in a peaceful setting and are both beautifully appointed with bespoke hand built kitchens and carefully selected soft furnishings. Individually they sleep 4 and with lockable, interconnecting doors, they are also ideal for groups of up to 8 guests.
These cottages are well placed for walking direct from the door, or why not test yourself on the 3 peaks which are within easy travelling distance and prove a challenge to the best of hill walkers. The thriving market town of Settle is approximately 7 miles and offers a selection of individual country shops, pubs and restaurants. Catch the train on the famous Settle to Carlisle railway line and enjoy the amazing views whilst crossing over the famous Ribblehead viaduct. With the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on your doorstep, you will never be short of wonderful countryside in which to walk, cycle or tour. The larger market towns of Skipton and Clitheroe are approximately 14 miles and offer enough shops to satisfy the most ardent of shoppers. Alternatively, enjoy a day in the Lake District National Park with Windermere, 41 miles away or the historic city of York 55 miles. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
Graydon Cottage (UKC2321) can be booked together with Adair Cottage (UKC2320) to accommodate up to 8 guests.

Pros:This property has been recently created and is finished to a high standard with beautiful decor. The welcome pack is exceptional including basics like milk and bread, but also thoughtful items like cheese and crackers and prosecco which felt like special treats. The cottage is well situated to visit both Forest of Bowland and the Dales and we were impressed with the choice of nice places to eat, whether lunch at garden centre tea rooms or gastro pubs within twenty to thirty minutes. Cons: Lack of space for storing groceries and small fridge next to oven. Ensuites are very compact without windows. Mattress was very thick, but even turning it over didn't help get rid of deep depressions where others have slept. The entrance is on a corner and some traffic goes too fast so it feels a bit dangerous. The road wasn't particularly pleasant to walk along. Biggest issue was the water supply was compromised by a technical problem and this meant the strong sulphurous smell was not removed. Turning on a tap resulted in the whole cottage stinking of rotten eggs and it was extremely unpleasant to have to shower in it. The owners were having difficulty getting it fixed over the Easter holiday period and were very apologetic. They have worked hard on their holiday properties to present guests with a lovely experience so we are confident that they will do their best to ensure this problem doesn't happen again.

Went to the cottage with my husband, daughter and our grandchildren 6 and 2 we took our travel cot for the 2 year old. We were delighted with the cottage it was very comfortable and cosy. The cottage is done out to a very high standard and was spotlessly clean. We spent three nights there and despite the bad weather we managed to get out and about every day, plenty to do all around the area. The owner Fiona was extremely helpful also it was a pleasure to speak to her father who enquired if we were ok. Would definitely recommend this cottage and would like to return when the weather improves.
