Very nice cottage, couple things could be done to improve it. Larger TV (26inch is very small) and thicker drapes for the bedroom with balcony as it felt quite cold. Nice to be so close to the sea had some lovely walks.

Everything about the cottage was as advertised and as expected. The kitchen, dining and living areas were well appointed and equipped and the appliances were all in working order. What was not expected was the presence of mice in the cottage. Accepting that this is an older property in a rural situation so the risk of rodents exists, the reality is always alarming. Evidence of rodent activity was found throughout the property however the worst affected areas were the ground floor. The managers were advised but didn’t seem to take the problem very seriously. They came and put down bait but declined to engage an exterminator. When the problem continued into our second week we again reported the issue and this resulted in a more concerned response from the managers who also found evidence around the cottage including the kitchen and upstairs rooms. They then contacted an exterminator who was not available until the day of our departure. We also noted, and the managers agreed, that the property was not as clean as expected; initially we thought that we were at the end on the season and the property could use a deep clean but as we found more dust and dirt the explanation bore less veracity. During the stay both my wife and I suffered unexplained bites to our torso which we now attribute to fleas left by the pets of previous occupants. I will not rent another property where pets are welcome as regardless of rules about where pets are allowed, it is obvious the doting owners allow their pets into bedrooms and onto beds. This is a delightful property in an ideal position but beware - our stay was spoiled by the problems. The managers offered nothing except apologies!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; The first knowledge we had of the mice was a few days after the guests arrived. As always we hope guests are 100% happy but anything brought to our attention is taken very seriously so we immediately contacted a pest controller who, unfortunately, could not attend for a couple of days. His advice was to put bait down and monitor the situation as they were most likely to be field mice. We visited the property at once and applied the bait where mice evidence appeared and emptied and cleaned all the cupboards and cleaned all the floors. At the end of the week we phoned to check on the situation and were informed that there was no evidence of mice now but were then contacted the following week to say the mice were back. So we recharged the bait and cleaned again checking everywhere for evidence. It seemed only downstairs had any evidence. We apologised profusely both times and then cancelled the next week’s guests then informed the following week’s guests of the situation and they were still happy to come and, by then, we had no more evidence of mice. They saw no evidence of mice during their stay and we have not seen any since. We have also installed sonic mice deterrents. There has been no other complaints of fleas in the property and no evidence found. Regarding the cleanliness we did apologise that in some areas it was not up to our normal high standards. We have had many compliments from guests as how clean the property is. Action has been taken regarding cleanliness.

Wonderful location and spacious property. Just a bit tired and clearly their had been dogs recently in the house as there was quite a bit of dog hair around.

A great cottage close to the beach. The cottage would benefit from WiFi as phone reception not great, but apart from that it had everything we needed.

It was comfortable and clean and a good location. The only problem was, signs to say, no bathing in the sea due to strong current's .

A quirky and comfortable house. The heating was great, the beds were comfortable, although some of the fixtures and fittings were a little dated. Our stay coincided with the road outside being resurfaced and the next door neighbour building an extension, however, as our stay was for the purpose of visiting family in hospital, we were thankfully out of the property during the day. Wonderfully quiet at night. Some curtains to prevent early morning daylight in the upstairs bedroom would also be welcome. The addition of wifi to the property would have helped reduce the isolation felt by our teenage children!

An ideal situation with walks in both directions and interesting views from the upstairs sitting room and bedrooms. The kitchen had everything we could want and was very well thought out. No need to move far from the dishwasher to put things away! The house was spotlessly clean and very warm, although there was a very cold wind during our stay and some very heavy hoar frosts. We would certainly go again.
