Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Perfect for a couple looking for somewhere to enjoy a walking holiday, with plenty of countryside walks to enjoy.

Little Willows in Naphill is an end-of-row, brick and flint character cottage, next to the owners’ home and located close to the town of Princes Risborough, and offers visitor accommodation of an excellent standard. The Chilterns is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is situated between London and Oxford, and the region offers superb scenery, tucked-away villages and market towns. The cottage is ideally located to enjoy Buckinghamshire’s, Berkshire’s and Oxfordshire’s lovely countryside walks and bridleways, and makes a great base for walking, trekking and cycling holidays. The cottage is in close proximity of the historic Ridgeway Trail, and is not far from the start of the ancient X Way at Ivinghoe Beacon.
There are several stately homes and National Trust properties in the area, including Chequers, the prime minister’s country estate, Great Missenden with its curving high street of half-timbered houses and Georgian shops, and the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre. Marlow, Henley and Windsor provide attractive access for riverside walks along the Thames Path, and also have a wealth of restaurants, boutiques and cafes. The village shop is ¼ mile, with the nearest pub and restaurant 500 yards from Little Willows, which is on a local bus route, with a bus stop nearby. Locally, there are also a number of cycle routes and footpaths, a parade of shops, and places to eat and visit; Hughenden Manor, Hell Fire Caves, Swan Theatre and Bletchley Park. For those wanting a day out in the capital using the high speed link from High Wycombe train station, visitors can arrive at London Marylebone in under 30 minutes. Additionally, the underground station at Amersham is only a short distance away.
The interior design of this property was inspired by George Clark’s ’Amazing Spaces’, with the cottage being compact, quirky and containing features of the period, such as a luxury shower room’s low vaulted ceiling, alongside modern features. The downstairs living space, with underfloor heating can be adjusted to suit the visitors’ mood; be it relaxing in the comfortable armchairs, enjoying a good film or meal. The centrepiece of the downstairs living space is a bespoke handmade larder unit crafted by local tradesmen which houses a kitchenette, which when not in use takes the appearance of a traditional larder unit. A hand-made staircase with an open view aspect to the second floor, leads to a spacious bedroom. The bedroom has dual aspect windows and in addition to traditional and modern features there is a sitting-out area and a bespoke bed. The low vaulted ceiling in the shower room ensures maximum light, with two Velux windows and also blackout blinds. Little Willows has also gained a ’Green Award’. Shop 1/4 mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Ground floor: Living room with wooden floor/dining room/kitchen. First floor: 1 double bedroom. Second floor: Shower room with toilet and low vaulted ceiling.

Gas central heating (underfloor on ground floor), electricity, bed linen and towels included. LED HD 3D Smart Freeview TV. DVD. Electric hob. Combi microwave/oven/grill. Wi-fi. Welcome pack. Shared garden with patio and furniture. Parking (1 car). No smoking.

The cottage was beautiful. It was very well equipped, with attention paid to every detail. It was cosy and comfortable. The owners were friendly and approachable. The cottage is ideal situated for many country walks, and the surrounding countryside is well worth exploring. We were sad to leave, but hope for a return visit, one day.

We wanted our own space for a holiday to explore The Chilterns, and Little Willows was an excellent choice! Warm welcome awaited us with home baked cake for afternoon tea, baked by the owners, who lived next door. The Chilterns is a beautiful part of the country, with lots to see, many National Trust Houses and estates. Lots of walks right on the doorstep! Henley on Thames, Marlow and Beaconsfield with very interesting model village. Public transport across road was useful too. The Red Kites were pretty awesome to watch and listen to! A trip to Bletchley Park was on our 'to do' list and was well worth the trip. Very interesting! Cottage had everything we needed, very comfortable, bright, modern. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in away from home! Would definitely recommend it!

This was a great find in Buckinghamshire. The cottage was ideal for two people and a great place to visit friends dotted round greater London. It was very well equipped. The only thing I had not paid attention to was the availability of a washing machine. Our hosts would have washed clothes for us if this had been necessary. The owners are very hospitable and kind, and there were several welcoming touches - scones and clotted cream were very welcome. We had our own car so transport was not an issue. The property is in a small village so a car is useful. The property is quirky with three rooms on three floors. The shower room is on the top floor, so maybe this is a consideration if you don't like climbing stairs. Also the top room has coombed ceilings which might not be to the taste of very tall guests. We had a very happy holiday here and would recommend the property.
