So homely!! Perfect winter retreat. Hot tub has beautiful fairy lights over a large sheltered canopy which is a bonus as not in the pics on here. Views are gorgeous and the owners are fabulous. We were greeted by the lady owner who directed me to the cottage (as I was driving a new car and telling off my husband lol) she kindly guided me in, shown us the tub and left us to it we felt so much at ease and & felt immediately at home. As we left the owner chatted to us they are so friendly. they are expanding as there's a barn opposite which they are renovating (can't wait to see when that is finished). This caused no distribution to us as its sheltered off and actually very pretty to see the peek of the barn especially there's a painting of the barn in the lounge area although the owners still checked it was with us & there was only one builder there and he was out of sight and quiet anyhow and was long gone & when we did see him on one occasion he was very friendly and waved and after speaking to the owner learning the history of the cottage you can just see a lot of love has gone into it and this is apparent. Everyone was Completely friendly. When we left the owner checked that we had a good time (which we had an amazing time). The beech is minutes away which again is beautiful. As soon as we returned we looked to book back up again & take our children but no surprise they are fully booked this side of Xmas, however we will definitely be returning very soon. We holiday a lot about 3 times a year and this was one of the best times away!!!! I would definitely recommend.

The house is beautiful, it's spotless and has everything you could possibly need. Location is perfect for a peaceful week away, but everything is a drive away. Felt a little uneasy in the house as there were so many do's and don'ts. Wasn't keen on the way the checks we're carried out at the end, felt a little intimidating.

I have a very mixed opinion about our recent stay here. The cottage itself was great, aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. The fairy lights above the hot tub are an absolute bonus and definitely make the holiday that but more special! Having said that, I have to say dissappointly that the welcome we received wasn't overly friendly- there was no friendly chit chat about where we'd come from, had we any plans for the weekend etc. I distinctly remember asking for a taxi number and being told to 'google it' - with such poor phone signal this wasn't even possible. Even more frustrating however was the couple's attitudes towards me and my group of friends; very patronising and on occasion actually rather rude. There were 6 adults in total, all aged between 26/27; we're not party times, we like a drink of course but we hadn't gone there for a wild weekend. The owners however on several occasions highlighted that 'they were you ng once, they had parties'; this coming up in conversation every time we had to raise an issue with them. My biggest issue with this weekend was the hot tub - the first night we all spent more than a few hours in there having drinks and chatting away. The next morning I woke up with a very matted hair do and I couldn't figure out what it was. After a brief mention of the string chlorine smell the night before and itchy skin, I realised the chlorine in the hot tub had completely fried my hair and left my hair very badly damaged. The other girls in the group didn't suffer as their hair was tied up. spending the afternoon in tears in a local hairdressers having all my hair chopped off was sorely disappointing, not at all how I'd planned to spend my day or money! Not only was I mortified about having my hair cut off, I then had to pay £54 for it. After returning to the house I asked the owners to check out the chlorine levels as something wasn't right; the reaction I got was less than hospitable. If this had been my property, I'd have been very upset at the thought of this happening to a guest. In response to telling the lady owner what happened, she asked me 'when did you last bleach your hair'; since my hair is brown I've no idea what relevance this had. And in any case, I have had bleach blonde hair and been in hot tubs, never encountering this devastation. After checking the chlorine level they insisted everything was fine, however they were more than outraged at the 'state' of the hot tub. It was filthy and from then made out of bounds; then come the patronising young party comments, adding that she 'had heard us the night before'. What she heard was chatting and laughter; maybe a little louder than usual after a few drinks, probably. There was no music however and certainly no party! The level of sincerity towards my clearly upset state after dealing with my hair crisis was poor to nearly non existent; upon leaving the cottage the lady owner made a meek apology to which I replied it's ok (it wasn't) - I then got back 'well it's not ok but there's nothing I can do about it'. I took pictures of the damage to my hair which she almost demanded to see, like I'd somehow made it up; despite arriving with long hair the day before! Such a charming lady. After a stressful day Saturday, Sunday was a new day for which we intended to enjoy and we did; eventually. 6 of us getting ready and taking showers when we realise the kitchen ceiling is leaking water... And not just a few drops. We then had to go and see the owners who were already aware of this but didn't think to mention it. There was clearly a drainage issue around the whole house as the wet room flooded and took hours for the water to drain, the sinks were blocked with water also and the toilets would not flush properly. At the same time we also asked when the hot tub would be back in action and the lady owner turned and said 'well I'm going out now'. If I'm not mistaken in the house rules it says there would be daily maintenance of the hot tub - almost as if we were an inconvenience to her. The husband however who was a lot more accommodating said he would be over to sort it out for us. Later that day he also popped in with a bottle of Champagne, verbally apologising to some of the group for his wife's behaviour. Now I don't mean to be rude, but if you're not a hospital person, don't work in hospitality... I very much got the feeling it was down to our age, this feeling the need to patronise us. Contrary to our experience there are plenty of reviews online suggesting many visitors had a very welcome stay and the owners couldn't have done more for them. Had something happened for her to treat us this way, I don't know? But it certainly impacted upon our stay there. I did highlight these patronising comments to the husband as we were leaving for home and he did apologise which was appreciated. I personally got up at 7am the morning we left to make the house as clean as possible; I would have done this anywhere but even more so here after feeling apprehensive about the departure. We gave no reason at all to warrant such attitudes towards us; I feel like we should have had a wild party just to justify the comments.

Very nice house in secluded location. Hot tub lovely and relaxing and now has a roof over it not shown on the pictures but does enhance the appearance , (pity that the view from it is of a hoarding around another old building. ) Owner very welcoming and helpful. House finished to high standard, clean and well equipped. Only reason we probably wont go back is that we wont need somewhere as big in future.
