Excellent home from home cottage. I would certainly tell my family and friends about this cottage.

Lovely cottage with all mod cons and very comfortable. It was spotlessly clean and there was an exceptional welcome pack which included home baking and homemade jam which was lovely. Have already recommended it to friends as agood cottage to go to.

Excellent, well equipped cottage. Outside space and parking very restricted but everything else very good.

We rent a lot of cottages all over the UK- and Kirkside Cottage was without a doubt one the very best we have ever rented. It is 4* Plus! There was nothing lacking - the equipment was top quality, the furnishings excellent and comfortable. The provision of fluffy bathrobes as well as toiletries, home baked cake, wine, milk, tea and flowers in all the rooms were a lovely surprise! We were delighted with the Sky and Freeview TV and WiFi (which we didn't use as we hadn't brought our laptop!) and a top notch TV in the double bedroom as well as the living room was a real luxury. Lovely big wardrobes and plenty of chests of drawers so lots of storage for clothes. The books in the bookcases - with a generous note to replace with one of your own any you might take away - were all good quality and relatively new - not the usual suspects that no one would really want to read. The only slight hiccup was that the local shop had shut the month before our arrival so it was a longish walk to the next village for a newspaper in the morning - but it was a glorious walk! We felt the owners have made more than the normal effort to make people feel very welcome at Kirkside and have given the furnishing and equipping of this lovely cottage a huge amount of thought. They are local so any problems could be easily addressed - not that we had any - apart from the Scottish weather which was sad. There are plentiful notes about everything in the cottage and how it all works and lots of suggestions for places to visit. There are so many things to do in the area - lovely places to visit - access to St. Andrews was within a 20 minute drive - lovely for the golf. We would love to return with some sunshine to enjoy this beautiful corner of Scotland. We would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a peaceful and beautiful retreat but with access to so many wonderful sights - do the train trip to Edinburgh and avoid the horrible parking problems - a lovely ride over the Forth Bridge and end up in the middle of the City at Waverley Station!
