Description

Offa’s Dyke is close by, while Bishops Castle, Clun and Ludlow are easily reached.

A well positioned stone holiday cottage at a midway point on the Powys/Shropshire border between the popular towns of Clun, famous for its castle, and Knighton, a town on the Offa’s Dyke path with its pretty timber framed buildings many dating back to the 17th century, its narrow sharply climbing streets lined with antique shops and a good selection of coffee houses and traditional inns, plus of course its strong connection to Owain Glendwr. Visitors can easily enjoy trips to nearby Ludlow with its castle, racecourse and numerous festivals. Enjoy a trip to Bishop’s Castle with its market town and home brewers, Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, Carding Mill Valley, Ironbridge, Bridgenorth, Attingham Park (NT) and Shewsbury. Other places of interest include Presteigne, home to the Judges Lodging, Churchstoke Country park, Powys Castle (NT) and Llanfair Light Railway. Shops and pub 2 miles.

Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. First floor: 1 double bedroom with additional single. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Woodburner in living/dining room (initial fuel included). NSH, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Satellite TV. DVD. Stereo/CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Freezer. Cannot fault the cottage or our hosts who were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I might suggest that mention should be made on the web site of the fact that the car parking is not on the same level as the cottage for those who have mobility problems . Having said that our hosts volunteered to help with luggage.

Excellent facilities but maybe a little remote. Depends on what you're looking for.....a few years ago , when we were city dwellers , we would have found this idyllic. It's a somewhat subjective question as it depends on personal preferences.

What a beautiful cottage. Yes on first thoughts it may appear remote but what a peaceful spot and only two miles from Knighton which provides a range of good traditional shops, everything you could need and beats the stress of huge impersonal supermarkets. We enjoyed numerous walks in the surrounding stunning countryside, without having to drive and we walked to Knighton on one occasion to the dog friendly pub. There are also several other pubs within a short car drive.

Enjoyed our week in spite of the weather, country side beautiful , knighton nice town and people lovely. Clun is well worth a visit.

Very nice cottage but not our taste. It is quite modern and we personally prefer original oldie worldy and a bit more remote than this as it is next to a busy road. I would still recommended it though as this is just our personal preference. There is nothing wrong with the cottage

We loved our stay and would like to return at some point. We felt that the packing was the only problem with this cottage.

We loved the area but the food served in local establishments was disappointing. Shopping for food was also limited. We travelled quite a lot in order to see places of interest.
