Offa’s Dyke is close by, while Bishops Castle, Clun and Ludlow are easily reached.

A well positioned stone holiday cottage at a midway point on the Powys/Shropshire border between the popular towns of Clun, famous for its castle, and Knighton, a town on the Offa’s Dyke path with its pretty timber framed buildings many dating back to the 17th century, its narrow sharply climbing streets lined with antique shops and a good selection of coffee houses and traditional inns, plus of course its strong connection to Owain Glendwr. Visitors can easily enjoy trips to nearby Ludlow with its castle, racecourse and numerous festivals. Enjoy a trip to Bishop’s Castle with its market town and home brewers, Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, Carding Mill Valley, Ironbridge, Bridgenorth, Attingham Park (NT) and Shewsbury. Other places of interest include Presteigne, home to the Judges Lodging, Churchstoke Country park, Powys Castle (NT) and Llanfair Light Railway. Shops and pub 2 miles.

We really enjoyed our week based at Hope Cottage which provided very spacious, bright and comfortable accommodation. The weather was very mixed, including snow, during our stay and although the cottage was warm it was great to have the log burner to supplement the heating, on several cold evenings. We found the cottage to be well situated for exploring the area's towns, villages and historic sites. For some, it might be worth noting that although the garden area around the cottage is level, access to the cottage from the car parking space is quite steep if you're a bit unsteady on your feet and the dog walk adjacent to the cottage is also very steep.

We had a lovely holiday. The cottage was spacious and clean. It was well equipped and our hosts were helpful and non intrusive. The cottage however could do with a refresh and up date as in places it looks tired and a little dated.

A lovely cottage, spacious, comfortable, well equipped, well located with delightful owners. We arrived on a cold February day to a warm welcome. The cottage was warm and a welcome pack awaited us.

Lovely welcome from the owner, who showed us round and had left us milk, bread, butter and cakes! The cottage was well equipped, especially in the kitchen. Very comfortable in general but I loved the king size bed! Plenty of room for out 3 year old to run around and play indoors. Lots of information about the local area and further afield. Lots of walking leaflets and OS maps as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go again.

Hope Cottage offered an ideal location for us at Christmas, lots of local lovely walks and also close to Knighton. The ancient Lurkenhope Woods are within 100 yards of your doorstep. Lots of wild birds seen on the feeders in the garden and Red Kites flying overhead.

We had a lovely holiday and the cottage was ideally situated just outside Knighton and near enough to the welsh border. The cottage was really spacious, very clean and well equipped. The log burner was great on cool nights. It's not far to carding mill valley and we visited Presteigne and the Judges Lodging house. The cottage is situated in a very peaceful valley. Would definitely visit again.
