The cottage was cold most of the time even with the heating on. It wasn't sufficient to heat it throughout the day. It smelt musty and damp on arrival. The walk from the car park to the cottage was water logged and muddy. The lighting was poor especially when coming in after dark and felt vulnerable. The bed was ridiculously high, even though there were steps to get up onto it.

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are sorry that that the weather was so horrendous for you during your stay but even so we did believe the heating to be more than sufficient. We will have another look though and add some more where necessary.

Cottage was in a good location but was very dirty, unclean sheets, mould in shower, rotten food and silver fish on cooking utensils. The list was endless. It was well equipped and cosy but not suitable for a young child due to the steep stairs. Wouldn't stay there again.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; Please accept our apologies for the unacceptable level of cleaning that you encountered. We have unfortunately had some issues with our cleaners over the summer which has only just come to light and has now been put right. We do wish that you had called us immediately as we could have done something about it for you at the time.

Kitchen not cleaned, bins not emptied. Human hair ( not head) in the bed, matress protector covered in stains. Bathroom not cleaned ..... evidence of hair here also. Windows did not open properly and one couldn't be secured. Totally unimpressed.

Location and surrounding area were very good. Having booked and paid for the use of a swimming pool this was out of use and plainly had been for some time. Ground floor of cottage was more than adequate however the first floor was a disappointment. The shower in the bathroom was lacking in water pressure and facilities to house shampoo etc.The sleeping arrangements were worryingly precarious having to climb three steps to get to bed and in the middle of the night we felt this was dangerous. We don't feel there is enough space for a child although in our case this didn't apply. If the bed was replaced the cottage may be better advertised as a romantic hideaway.

Lovely little cottage for 2 any more it could be cramped. We stayed middle of Sept and was lucky with the weather, only had 1 real day of rain . The cottage was clean throughout but I think they need a new cleaner as there was cobwebs hanging from the lights and in the shower, which explained the huge spider we had crawling on the floor 1 night. If your planning on cooking while you are there its very well equipped , we did,nt personally. The bed is quite high accessed by 3 steps on 1 side of the bed. Bathroom very small, getting out of the shower you have the toilet right outside so not a lot of room. Somebody described the shower as a trickle ,however its not that bad you just need to turn it fully on . The pub on site is not a pub but a clubhouse for the golfers , if you get there after 8pm don't expect any food. Not what we expected as we had our first nights meal there . Not impressed and didn't go back there. You probably wont be able to get a phone signal until you are out on the main road. Overall it is a nice location with easy access to other places to visit. Would stay again.

Compact but equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Good location close to both Woolacombe and Ilfracombe with the added luxury of a swimming pool just outside the front door. Pool was clean and well heated.

Could do better. This cottage is well - located, just a short drive from Ilfracombe and the sandy beaches at Woolacombe and Croyde. The living space is small but the layout downstairs is good, with a well - equipped kitchen, good - sized dining table and comfortable leather settee. However, the upstairs layout is cramped, with a pokey bathroom and bedroom comprising a bed accessible by a small set of steps. The accessibility of the bed, combined with the compactness of the room ( added to by the necessity to use the pull - out bed for our 4 year old daughter), rendered the bedroom a space only suitable for the slim and agile! Overall, the cottage felt as though it had not been cleaned adequately, prior to our arrival, and our bed mattress cover and pillows were badly stained. We also felt the pool was not cleaned regularly enough, so only used it a couple of times. While it was great to find a number of DVDs to watch, readily supplied at the cottage, we were very disappointed that the Television stopped working just a few hours after our arrival and was not fixed until four days later, having made four separate phone calls. Although we knew there would be no internet access at the cottage, we were pleased to find a radio at the property but on attempting to use it, we got no reception at all! While it was great to have hot water, this almost instantly became scalding hot and we feel that if this can't be rectified, a warning notice should be clearly displayed, to avoid unnecessary burning. On a positive note, we still had a great holiday, as we just used the cottage as a base and were fortunate with the weather during our stay. This is a pretty cottage, in a great location, and with higher standards of cleanliness and better customer service when things go wrong, it could score so much more higher.

Upon opening the front door, the property did not smell clean, there were cobwebs and dust in places and hair in the shower tray. The mugs were stained. It was quite dark inside. However, the pillows and bed were comfortable. The bathroom particularly is in need of modernisation and the property would benefit from redecoration throughout.
