Very good cottage. Reasonably spacious and relatively well equipped. Our one criticism would be that it wasn't the warmest. Even with the thermostat turned up, we struggled to get to a reasonable temperature. Fortunately the log fire helped!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I’m sorry that you had problems with the heating. The boiler and radiators were serviced at the beginning of December and left in working order with no problem getting the temperature up. Possibly you needed to alter the timing on the boiler to constant or all day. It was very cold and we would have expected to have had the heating on constant. We will check the settings again and ensure all is well. Thank you for your comments. If you’d contacted us or our caretaker this could have been rectified immediately.

Overall, we enjoyed another stay at this lovely, homely cottage. Sadly, it had slipped from its previous high standard. We arrived to find that chipped mugs had been put out for us to use. Then we found that there was a long standing milk spillage at the bottom of the fridge, which we had to clean. There was not much toilet paper provided and the toilet roll holder in the bathroom was absent. We had been made aware that there was outstanding maintenance. Even so, we were concerned that, on the face of it, neither the electrical appliances had been checked nor the boiler serviced since May 2016.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner- I am so sorry that the cottage did not meet your expectations on this, your third visit. There is no better recommendation than guests who return. It is our usual policy to make sure that each toilet has a toilet roll on the holder and a spare. This has obviously been overlooked and we will ensure this doesnt happen again. As for the maintainence schedule, the cottage has been so busy this year that we have not been able to liaise with the maintainence companies to do this. They are now booked for the beginning of December . We take our guests safety very seriously and we are sorry that our standards have slipped on this occasion. We will make sure that this important aspect of the care of our guests is given priority in future as it has always has been in the past.

The cottage is surprisingly spacious, with a modern bathroom and comfortable furniture. The kitchen has plenty of cutlery and crockery, good storage space and lots of working room. It is a quiet location within easy reach by car of shops, pubs, restaurants, petrol station and other facilities. We found the trip into Shrewsbury convenient, both for daytime sightseeing and evening meals. It is a good base for visiting Shropshire and there is plenty to do within easy reach, whether you are looking for walks, history, museums or events. The cottage has a full bookcase (including local information), plus games and jigsaws, if the weather is poor. We had two enjoyable weeks at Honeysuckle Cottage and hope to return soon.
