On the edge of Bodmin Moor, with unspoilt views across the moors, Port Isaac, Boscastle, Tintagel and the NT Lanhydrock are well worth a visit.

On the edge of beautiful Bodmin Moor

Located at the end of a private lane on the edge of Cornwall’s highest village, these beautifully converted holiday barns form a secluded courtyard of 200-year-old granite buildings. Both have been refurbished and are tastefully furnished, with many character features, including slate floors, exposed beams and antique furnishings. Each has its own private sitting out area with unspoilt views over neighbouring fields or to the North Cornwall coast. Ideally situated on the edge of Bodmin Moor for exploring the landscape of tors and moorland. Enjoy riding, fishing and walking, and cycling on the Camel Trail. With windsurfing, sailing and surfing all within 12 miles, visitors can enjoy the best of coast and countryside, alternating their days between tranquil landscapes and seaside fun at the beaches on the north coast. Places of interest such as Port Isaac, Boscastle and Tintagel, as well as the National Trust property at Lanhydrock and the Eden Project are also within easy reach. Pub, renowned for its cuisine, and shop ¼ mile. Real ale pub 2½ miles.

Ground floor: Living/dining room with beams. Kitchen. First floor: 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet.

Private courtyard garden. Barbecue.

Both properties: Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Oil central heating (available October-April), electricity, bed linen and towels included. Cot and high chair on request. Freeview TV. DVD. Stereo/CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Shared use of owner’s washing machine and tumble dryer (by arrangement). Ample parking.

An extremely pleasant little cottage which is exactly as described. I don't normally like the idea of the owners living next door but in this case they were great and kept their distance to allow the cottage to be enjoyed (but they were great when needed). The cottage was also toasty warm with lovely decor and very clean.

A beautiful little cottage, tucked away in a peaceful location. Dog friendly, although we don't have one. There was a very warm welcome from the owners and a scrummy cream tea in the cottage for us to enjoy! a very pleasant surprise. Parking was just outside the cottage so no problem there. A small village shop is located a short distance away and the local pub does some very good food. All in all a great place to visit.

We had a fab few days and a lovely rest. Amazing owners and lovely location for walks and near the beach. We will be going back next year in the summer time.

Disappointing. Lack of heating apparently due to boiler overhaul. Disturbance on final night - late party (3 am) adjoining property.

Response on behalf of the Owner; We're extremely disappointed to read this review as we take a lot of time and extra care to ensure all our guests have the most comfortable stay possible as can be seen in previous reviews. The central heating is available from October to April, this is stated in the property description, but we always offer alternative heating during the summer months if requested or we ourselves feel it is required. During May, we were updating the central heating system and told these guests. We offered alternative heating as we were concerned they may be cold due to the unseasonably lower temperatures. The offer was declined so I really don't know what else we could have done.

Lovely cottage, very clean and well cared for and enjoyed our stay despite the weather. We stayed for a week and were made very welcome. Bathroom small but clean with everything you need. Biggest problem was food storage....maybe sacrifice some crockery, pots and pans for food storage. Found seating uncomfortable over time (weather not so good). Would recommend installing a outside hose to wash off dogs. Recommend the pub!

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your comments which we always try to act on if we can. We have considered making more food storage options in the kitchen but with such a great pub up the road the majority of our guests eat out so it appears to not be a crucial need. The sofa was new this year so we are concerned to read that after time you were uncomfortable as we deliberately chose something cosy to curl up on in the evenings or on colder days. Sadly, if we had known you needed an outside tap we could have shown you where it is located as we find many of our guests use it to not only hose off muddy dogs, but also for cleaning their surf boards.

High View is perfectly placed on the edge of Bodmin Moor, a marvellous place for a couple with a dog!

We were made to feel very welcome. There was a cream tea there with a doggie chew for our dog and fresh flowers on arrival. We'll definitely return.

Just what we wanted. A clean, quiet and peaceful setting in order to relax before the onset of routine and work. Allows dogs which was crucial to us. Lovely area to base from if you want to venture further afie and nice local pub if you are planning on staying home. Great experience would be happy to repeat.
