Description

A footpath leads directly to the sandy beach, great for families.

This group of three holiday properties (refs 23249, 29517 and 29518) occupy a great central touring position that is close to the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, Mawddach trail and cycle path; once on the trail, a public footpath runs alongside all the way to the fantastic sandy beach, ideal for families wanting to be near the sea. Walk the other direction on the trail, and go over the famous wooden railway bridge across the estuary to Barmouth. Situated on the owners’ working farm, guests to Bwlchgwyn Farm have the added attraction of horseriding on site - you can pony trek on the beach or have lessons. This area is great for bird watching, fishing and mountain biking, with easy access to the mountain bike centre at Coed Y Brenin, and Go Ape. It is also well-placed for visiting Cader Idris and the Creggenan Lakes. All areas of Cardigan Bay, including Tywyn, Fairbourne, Dolgellau and Barmouth, are easy to reach from this midway point; whilst some resorts offer sandy beaches, others have an array of shops, many full of typical Welsh crafts and gifts. A little further afield, the towns and mountain ranges of Snowdonia have plenty to offer visitors of all ages. The Fairbourne/Highland steam railways, slate mines, Portmeirion Italianate village, Mount Snowdon and numerous castles and golf courses (nearest 2 miles) are to be found within the Snowdonia National Park. Hen Ysgubir (29518) is a ground floor apartment, situated below Ysgubor Uchaf (29517), which is the first floor apartment. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

All on ground floor: Living room. Dining room. Kitchen. 3 bedrooms: 2 double, 1 twin. Shower room with toilet.

Underfloor heating (living and dining room) and electric heaters (in bedrooms) included. Electric cooker. Small enclosed lawned garden with sitting-out area and furniture. Barbecue. Parking (2 cars). Wheelchair access.

All properties: Electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Horse livery available by prior arrangement. No smoking.

The cottage is in a really nice spot within the farm and the views from a short walk up the hill are fabulous The cottage exterior is modern as is the finish inside , however the furniture is very old and this is a shame given the overall feel of the building is modern a new sofa tv and armchairs would not cost much and would really give the interior a lift ! The outside area is lovely for sunny days and enclosed for little people The cottage does have another cottage above it which is hard to explain but there are other holiday makers above you !

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. We are so pleased you liked the fabulous views across the Mawddach Estuary and our lovely outside garden area. Since your stay we have completely refurbished the lounge/diner and upgraded the furniture and now have a brand new suite and recliner sofa.

The cottage we stayed in was lovely, and ideal having the small garden and patio at the front for my little 2 year old boy to play about in. For us though, it was too far out from Barmouth itself so on that basis we probably wouldn't stay there again. No fault with the cottage itself though at all, we would just look to book something closer to avoid all the to'ing and fro'ing of travel with a little person. The cottage was lovely and spacious but could do with some updated decor/furniture etc. Would still recommend.

The cottage was spacious and comfortable, the clean up from the guests before could have been more thorough. The shower was great. Very friendly and helpful owners who gave us great ideas for places to visit while in Wales. We would all stay there again.
