Set on the edge of a village, these cottages are ideal for exploring Cockermouth and the northern fells and lakes, and enjoy stunning scenery without experiencing the same hustle and bustle of the central Lakes. Finished to a very good standard, the cottages have everything you need for family getaways including a hot tub each, and have shared use of a superb, private indoor pool with sauna and spa within the courtyard. Each cottage has its own style and attributes but all share lovely outlooks over farmland towards the Solway Coast, 4 miles. Halls Bank Farm ref 13196 is a 17th-century sandstone farmhouse, tastefully decorated. Its original outhouses stand in a walled courtyard where a stream runs through to the paddock. Berwyn Bank ref 15825 is a wonderful sandstone barn attached to Halls Bank Farm and has been skilfully converted, retaining much of its character, with some flagged floors and beams. A large living room on the first floor gives super views towards the Scottish mountains and Solway Coast. It was originally a bank barn, therefore there is an external level access to both the ground and first floor. It also has a private enclosed garden. Previously a barn in a former 17th-century farmsteading, Beckside ref 17926 is a charming single-storey, detached stone cottage that has been totally restored with exposed beams and interesting features. It stands adjacent to the swimming pool. Spacious and well-presented, Stackgarth ref 29673 is a charming, detached holiday bungalow with thoughtful and welcoming touches. The market town of Cockermouth is 6 miles, Keswick 14 miles and Buttermere 12 miles. Bassenthwaite Lake, 6 miles. Private fishing on the River Ellen for salmon and trout, 1 mile (free of charge). Golf and horse riding nearby. Beach 10 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub ½ mile. The properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 28+1 guests.

Kitchen: With electric range, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and tiled floor.
Bedroom 1: With twin beds and en-suite with shower cubicle and toilet.
First Floor:
Bedroom 2: With four poster double bed, TV and en-suite with shower cubicle and toilet.
Bedroom 3: With double bed and TV.
Bedroom 4: With twin beds.
Bathroom: With shower over bath, and toilet.

Electricity by meter reading. Wi-Fi included. Fuel for open fire available locally. Cot and highchair. Z-bed for child available. Garden with garden furniture. Hot tub (private, £50 per week, £30 per short break). Indoor heated swimming pool (shared, 5m x 12m, depth 1m) with Jacuzzi and sauna, available for private use mornings and afternoons at selected hours by prior arrangement. Private parking.

All properties: Biomass central heating, bed linen and towels included. Paddock area (shared). No smoking. Please note: There is a beck in the paddock area.

    Stayed over Christmas and loved it. The pictures do not do this place justice. Carole Wilkinson who runs the cottages Was on hand and couldn’t do enough for us. The cottage has every utensil, gadget you could need. Also stocked with games, DVDs and books. The view is stunning and our children loved the farm animals they saw every day. The hot tub was lovely and went down well with our whole party. The swimming pool was lovely warm and clean and the private time in the pool was a good idea. We all loved it so much that we are going to book to come back and would recommend to anyone considering.

    We booked Halls Bank as a group of families for our annual weekend away. On arrival we paid £100 security deposit and were told the £30 for the hot tub and electricity money could be left before we went. The house was beautiful and well equipped with a lovely location. It was unfortunately let down by the previous visitors clothes left under the beds and the hot tub not working for 2 of the 3 days we stayed. The housekeeper proved difficult to get hold of. We asked if we could have £10 knocked off as we couldn't use the hot tub and left having paid everything but this. The owner couldn't come as we left so we had to leave voicemails and an address to return our deposit to. We still have not received this 4 weeks after our visit! We have called and been told repeatedly it's going to be posted tomorrow. In the end we complained to the company we booked with to be told the lady has decided to deduct an extra £25 from our deposit for no reason at all. Completely ruined what would have been a lovely stay. Having said that I have still received nothing even though apparently it's in the post. Avoid this booking!

    I am manager of holiday cottages, so my review is from professional side. Negatives: frying pans needs changing, cooker very slow to do fry up and needs to look at,1 toilet roll missing, 1 bin not emptied, some cobwebs. Paying for electricity (it came to under £10) could be included in price (did not mind it but I can see others could not like it). Unfortunately owner did not replied to my texts on Saturday or Sunday, simple ok is sometimes enough. Positives: very nice cottage, hot tub and pool nice extras and in good condition, plenty of equipment, cottage nicely decorated, quality matching furniture, well kept grounds, pool rota worked well with us, well kept grounds, good value for money. Cupcakes were nice touch. Thank you for nice break. Would definitely recommend.

    Ten out of ten for this place nothing is too much trouble plenty to do just make sure you take everything you need food wise cos there is nothing near by bistro is a must food and cocktail fab gins and a few good beers

    Lovely place shame the hot tube didnt work for a few days and also dont think it was right that we had to pay electric after paying so much to stay in the first place.

    This is our second visit,we all love it,my kids love the swimming pool and feeding the pig.they also like the Jacuzzi at the bottom of the garden, everybody both owners and staff could not be more helpful.The grounds and gardens are well kept.
