Set on the edge of a village, these cottages are ideal for exploring Cockermouth and the northern fells and lakes, and enjoy stunning scenery without experiencing the same hustle and bustle of the central Lakes. Finished to a very good standard, the cottages have everything you need for family getaways including a hot tub each, and have shared use of a superb, private indoor pool with sauna and spa within the courtyard. Each cottage has its own style and attributes but all share lovely outlooks over farmland towards the Solway Coast, 4 miles. Halls Bank Farm ref 13196 is a 17th-century sandstone farmhouse, tastefully decorated. Its original outhouses stand in a walled courtyard where a stream runs through to the paddock. Berwyn Bank ref 15825 is a wonderful sandstone barn attached to Halls Bank Farm and has been skilfully converted, retaining much of its character, with some flagged floors and beams. A large living room on the first floor gives super views towards the Scottish mountains and Solway Coast. It was originally a bank barn, therefore there is an external level access to both the ground and first floor. It also has a private enclosed garden. Previously a barn in a former 17th-century farmsteading, Beckside ref 17926 is a charming single-storey, detached stone cottage that has been totally restored with exposed beams and interesting features. It stands adjacent to the swimming pool. Spacious and well-presented, Stackgarth ref 29673 is a charming, detached holiday bungalow with thoughtful and welcoming touches. The market town of Cockermouth is 6 miles, Keswick 14 miles and Buttermere 12 miles. Bassenthwaite Lake, 6 miles. Private fishing on the River Ellen for salmon and trout, 1 mile (free of charge). Golf and horse riding nearby. Beach 10 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub ½ mile. The properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 28+1 guests.

Kitchen: With electric range, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and tiled floor.
Bedroom 1: With twin beds and en-suite with shower cubicle and toilet.
First Floor:

Bedroom 3: With double bed and TV.

Electricity by meter reading. Fuel for open fire available locally. Cot and highchair. Z-bed for child available. Garden with garden furniture. Hot tub (private, £50 per week, £30 per short break). Indoor heated swimming pool (shared, 5m x 12m, depth 1m) with Jacuzzi and sauna, available for private use mornings and afternoons at selected hours by prior arrangement. Private parking.

    I am manager of holiday cottages, so my review is from professional side. Negatives: frying pans needs changing, cooker very slow to do fry up and needs to look at,1 toilet roll missing, 1 bin not emptied, some cobwebs. Paying for electricity (it came to under £10) could be included in price (did not mind it but I can see others could not like it). Unfortunately owner did not replied to my texts on Saturday or Sunday, simple ok is sometimes enough. Positives: very nice cottage, hot tub and pool nice extras and in good condition, plenty of equipment, cottage nicely decorated, quality matching furniture, well kept grounds, pool rota worked well with us, well kept grounds, good value for money. Cupcakes were nice touch. Thank you for nice break. Would definitely recommend.

    Ten out of ten for this place nothing is too much trouble plenty to do just make sure you take everything you need food wise cos there is nothing near by bistro is a must food and cocktail fab gins and a few good beers

    Lovely place shame the hot tube didnt work for a few days and also dont think it was right that we had to pay electric after paying so much to stay in the first place.

    This is our second visit,we all love it,my kids love the swimming pool and feeding the pig.they also like the Jacuzzi at the bottom of the garden, everybody both owners and staff could not be more helpful.The grounds and gardens are well kept.

    Hall bank farm was lovely. It was very clean and had loads of added extras, such as plenty of towels, lovely handwash and hand creams in all the bathrooms. Our only few moans we had as a group was after paying so much we had too pay extra for the electricity and the hot tub. Also you were given times for the swimming pool (which was a lovely pool and an excellent addition to the holiday) but we thought maybe when you rang the week before to arrange an arrival time, it would be better to ask what times was better as the late ones were a bit to late for the children. But overall we had a fabulous break away thank you

    2nd time staying here. Some updates since last time(TV in all bed rooms). Both families really enjoyed stay. Ample space. Perfect room combination. Lots of things to do near by. Pool great (would havebeen good to be able to use pool on Friday night) but once jacuzzi heated up this was great. Kids really enjoyed this. Only comment I would give is cost (quite expensive) then have to pay additional for electricity and additional for jacuzzi. Could be all combined. But really enjoy staying here. House is very welcoming.

    A beautiful house, perfect for a group family holiday. Well stocked kitchen, comfy beds, good showers and cosy lounge and spacious dining room. Spotless. Wonderful countryside views. Hot tub in garden and private use of the superb swimming pool was the icing on the cake! Other properties look fantastic. We ll be back!
