Explore Cornwall on foot from this property, with the South West Coastal Path just 1¾ miles away.

These two, single storey barns (refs 29635 and 29636) converted from an old grain store and grain mill, provide the perfect holiday accommodation to explore this quiet and secluded corner of Cornwall, but are only a short drive from the coastal town of St Mawes and the pretty little village of Port Holland, with its beach and rich history of smuggling. Country walks, coastal walks or just relaxing on the local beaches, many in quiet coves, this really is the quintessential Cornwall. Although secluded, the barns are situated ¾ mile from the South West Coastal Path and spectacular walks can be enjoyed along with equally wonderful inland walks to cater for all tastes. The properties are set on the Caerhays Castle Estate, with its famous gardens open to the public, and are close to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and a short drive to the Eden Project. The area is one of the most picturesque in Cornwall and is set in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Wildlife abounds in the area and you can expect to see badgers, buzzards and everything in between. A beautiful sheltered beach at Caerhays provides the perfect location for that family holiday, with rock pools and fine sand. Beautiful beaches can be found at Gorran Haven, Pendower and Portscatho which is home to the Hidden Hut Cafe. Beach ¾ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

No score given for local amenities as they were not considered essential to us, in fact the reverse!

Lovely property, if a little isolated - and there was no mobile phone signal. We had some problems with the TV, but the very helpful owner was eventually able to sort them for us. Overall a very enjoyable week, and we would be happy to return.

We had a wonderful holiday in grain store 2. Nikki is an amazing owner and left a brilliant welcome basket full of goodies which, amongst other things, included homemade strawberry jam, scones, and clotted cream. Milk was in the fridge and lovely muesli, bread and marmalade was there for breakfast! The garden and court yard were fabulous. It was helpful having a fence and gate to keep our dogs in the large court yard and a hose to wash dogs when necessary. Our dogs loved the place, especially the large safe garden where they played in the morning. We walked the dogs down the lane to the beach, 15 mins, and found a suitable field on right where they could be let off lead. Not suitable to led them off in the lane as it is used by cars to get to the beach. It's a lovely dog friendly beach. We would recommend the location for peace and beauty. The only reason we put a lower score for local amenities is because the location is deep in the country through beautiful typical Cornwall lanes, so to go anywhere for meals and shops is a car trip. No problem if you enjoy being in the country, which we were looking for and found it. Thanks Nikki.

A great little apartment with a cosy feeling. The quiet location and garden made for a restful break. Our young children loved the garden and to walk down to the water at Portholland. No shops nearby - thank goodness and we made the most of coastal walks. There was a generous welcome basket.

Fantastic property with lovely, friendly, helpful hosts. There was everything you could need and it was cosy and luxurious at the same time. The welcome hamper was delicious and a lovely surprise.

Modern interior in an old building, spotlessly clean and very well equipped, and the most generous welcome pack of goodies we have ever encountered. Two bathrooms, very modern, but no bath. Comfy big bed. A nice size garden for the dog to explore and run around in, with hordes of the unusual silver backed Kansas pheasants in the fields around. The cottage is situated on a quiet lane with about a 15 minute walk down to the sea at Port Holland, a small village with limited facilities. The worst feature was the very narrow and bendy Cornish lanes which have somewhat limited signposting. Try to arrive before dark! Once there, you will find the gardens of Caerhays castle and of Heligan fairly close by, well into flower in mid-late March.
