Had a great time, excellent location, very comfortable and warm. Only thing that could be improved is the general maintenance i.e. Several light bulbs not working in kitchen main light and above work surfaces. Also the back of one of the kitchen chairs was broken and came off in my hand. This would not put me off staying here in the future.

fantastic location enabling you to walk and see all Aberaeron has to offer. The house itself has fantastic potential however fell short of our requirements as a family with two small children. Doors did not shut upstairs and with such steep stairs this was always a worry as there was no way of keeping the children safe. We did take our own baby gate but it did not fit the top of the stairs properly. The boiler had not been checked prior to arrival and we had no hot water initially which was a big inconvenience. It was dealt with promptly however completely avoidable. At night I felt I was sleeping in a tent the windows were being kept shut downstairs with folded leaflets, there were big gaps in the windows upstairs and you could hear everything that was going on outside. The house was outdated the garage was a health and safety inspectors dream... We did not feel it was value for money, the owners of this property need to spend a bit of money updating and making safe the house so all can enjoy. It did not meet my requirements and in comparison with other properties we've stayed in disappointing overall.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We appreciate the time that people take to provide feedback on our property, and where we can make improvements, we do so. Naturally, we are disappointed that you felt the property did not meet your requirements. We think it would be useful to provide some comments on some of the points raised to help inform others who may be considering a stay at our property. We should point out first of all that Glendower, like the majority of the period properties that help give Aberaeron its character, is over 100 years old and a Grade2 listed building. With such properties come the original windows, doors and a staircase. All are in good working order. (All features mentioned are shown and described on the website and brochure). The old large garage and outside toilet again are original features of the property, and although they are not officially included as part of the rental, we allow their use on a discretionary and complimentary basis, as some people have told us in particular that having the use of the garage is sometimes useful. We acknowledge and regret that the boiler suffered a reduction in pressure, leading to the loss of hot water. As you stated, we were able to rectify the problem within a short period of receiving the call. We would like to reassure visitors that the boiler is regularly checked and serviced, but unfortunately the loss of pressure was not foreseeable or avoidable. Nonetheless, we do regret it and apologise for the inconvenience. We were particularly disappointed with the suggestion that you felt that the property was unsafe. Assuming that the concern over safety is related to the fact that the stair gate did not fit properly, we do provide a stair gate which does fit, details of which are provided in the welcome pack. We will review the clarity of this information in the pack. We are keen to ensure that people visiting Glendower have an enjoyable stay, and we would stress that we are available to help resolve any concerns or issues visitors may have during their stay. We also regularly review all aspects of the property to ensure that it is clean, safe and of a standard that would make people feel at home there. We are also inspected independently to ensure that we meet the 4* grading it carries.
