My wife and I have stayed in this cottages approx 5 times although this was our first visit for approx 5 yrs, and the attention to detail seems to have slipped ie no shelves on the inside of the fridge door, bearing in mind the remoteness of this cottage food storage is important and this issue made things slightly inconvenient (a fridge of this size would cost approx £100). A fruit basket used to be made available on arrival not any longer. The torch which is provided didn't work, neither did the emergency lantern, The bed that has been provided seems to have taken the magic and the romance away (previously you had a pull out sofa bed which let you sleep next to the log burner so in our opinion not a good idea) these things are only small niggles and if you haven't been before its still a nice place to stay, but not for us anymore.

Third time at Glacour Studio cottage and it is still my favorite cottage. Location is great for those looking for a nice, secluded, getaway from it all hideaway without feeling totally isolated as there are nice amenities in the reasonably close town on Dingwall. You can enjoy watching the local wildlife from the ever present red deer to red kites, pine martens and, if you are lucky, golden eagle. The cottage is well equipped for the price with freeview TV a DVD player and CD player for those that just cannot go without "tech". There is a small collection of reading material available as well. For me I preferred to sit outside on a clear evening watching the stars and listening to the deer calling across the valley then pop back inside to sit in front of the fire with a good book and a wee dram. The only downside for some may be the natural spring water supply which it is now recommended be boiled, or use bottled water, for drinking/cooking. However, I wouldn't let this put you off as Dingwall has a good size Tesco with cheap bottled water if that is your preference although the local supply has not done me any harm so far. I can wait to get back there again.
