This was our second visit to Garden Cottage and we will definitely be back again. The cottage is lovely and in a brilliant location for visiting the many attractions on offer in this part of Scotland. Linlithgow is a lovely little town, with plenty of places to eat and there is a choice of pubs which sell "real ale". A walk round the loch and a visit to the palace is a must. It's great to be able to catch the train into Edinburgh and Glasgow rather than having to drive.

Negatives. Shower needs updating as it dribbles. Sofas are uncomfortable. A lot of traffic noise upstairs from the windows. I could hear everything going on in the main high street from the revelers. Very tight parking. You must reverse into the drive. Positives. Great location. Extremely clean and tidy. Owners very helpful. Comfy beds. Heating good. Very well stocked kitchen/house!! Overall a great stay.

A very pretty, comfortable little cottage in a perfect location. The owners were helpful and friendly but not intrusive. The layout of the cottage is ingenious, making the most of a small area but giving an overall impression of space. Plenty of room for four people. There is a lovely view of Linlithgow Palace from the living room window and the Loch is literally just across the road. Linlithgow itself is very pretty and the road running through is lined with interesting little independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The pretty Victorian train station, decorated with flowers, is ten minutes walk away with regular, fast and cheap services to Edinburgh and Glasgow. We only used the car once as the train was a faster, more comfortable and great value option, especially as we have Two Together Railcards which gives you a third off ticket prices. (At £30 a year for two, highly recommended.) On the outskirts of the town, at opposite ends, are an Aldi store and a Tesco store, both within walking distance if you don't want to carry too much. We very much enjoyed strolling through Edinburgh and visiting the Art Gallery; we spent another day at the famous Edinburgh Zoo which was even better than expected. Glasgow was also a great place to visit with many beautiful buildings and squares, great shopping, and many attractions. All in all Garden Cottage is a little gem of a place, as is the lovely little market town. Prospective renters should be aware, however, that there are a few steps up to the cottage and the lounge is on the first floor. As active pensioners this wasn't an issue for us, but it may possibly cause difficulty for the less able bodied. Off road parking is available and the area felt safe and secure. Would we go back? Definitely! We loved it.
