Enjoyed our stay. Finding the property was a bit problematic initially. Plenty of walks along the coastal path within a short drive.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry to hear you had trouble finding our property. As we are in a quiet secluded location a sat nav will only direct you as far as the farm access on the corner - there are signs that direct you to Treginegar from thereon.

The cottage was clean and well equipped but very 'tired' kettle was dodgy, tap didn't work, bathroom floor constantly wet and no mop provided. My son's mattress on the bunk bed had springs he could feel and was really uncomfortable and that bedroom smelt really damp. Also for what we paid I was surprised towels weren't provided. That said, we had a lovely time, location is pretty, if a little out the way, the garden was lovely and well looked after and it's a great base for exploring north Cornwall. Lovely beaches very close by and St Merryn itself, great, but you do need a car to get to it if you have kids.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments and we are pleased to hear you had a lovely time in this beautiful location. We are however disappointed with your comments, each year at the end of the holiday season we endeavour to make improvements/upgrade our property and will continue to do so. Although there have been no previous complaints regarding wet floor we have provided a mop. The kettle was replaced immediately by our onsite caretaker who also confirmed all taps are in good working order. Although comfort is individual taste, as a matter of courtesy, mattress toppers have been added to all beds. Regarding the damp smell in the bedroom, we have identified the damp/musty smell in the bedroom as being due to a recent guest's dog(s) urinating on the carpet (This is against the terms and conditions which states no dogs allowed in the bedrooms or on furniture). Because of this we have had to replace the carpet with a wooden floor which will alleviate any problems in the future. Fistral is a 3 star property and therefore we are not required to supply towels - this is made clear on the website. Since this review we have contacted other guests who were quite happy with their stay.

Double bed was like sleeping on a dining table so resorted to sleeping on sofa until we moved mattresses . Please change mattress.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for drawing our attention to your concerns regarding the mattress - beds are subjective and very much to personal/individual taste - we have however as a matter of courtesy added mattress toppers to all our beds so the softer option is available.

We had a lovely stay in the cottage. We were all very comfortable and apart from a mat in the bathroom and a couple more chopping boards we had all we required. A lovely addition was the young birds fledging from the bird box by the front door.

Overall the cottage was just ok - it was dirty when we arrived and a cleaner came out to try and rectify but it really needs a really good clean. The bedroom smelt damp and the bedroom carpet smells awful - I had to buy plug in air fresheners to disguise. The cottage is in a lovely quite location but I can't help feel the owners have totally neglected the cleaning of the place. When you have travelled 350 miles and arrive to a place that is covered in dust, floors dirty, cobwebs with spiders not a great start.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you found the property not up to our usual standard, we can only apologise for this. Our on-site Caretaker did come to rectify the problems straight away for you. The issues mentioned have now all been addressed by our new cleaner.
