What a lovely, quaint barn in a wonderful location with beautiful views across Great Fryup Dale and welcoming, friendly people - would definitely recommend. The barn itself is nicely converted; lots of beams, nooks and crannies, tiled/wooden floors downstairs, carpeted floors upstairs, wooden doors, nice furnishings and characterful bits and bobs dotted around make this a very homely and comfortable place to stay. There is a well-stocked kitchen with all you need for cooking and eating; you could easily cook and serve quite a large meal if you wanted to eat in for the night. There are lots of lamps dotted around, as well as main spot lighting, so you can create a nice atmosphere; there aren't large windows in the main living area, but that isn't a criticism; it's because it is a sensitively converted agricultural building with smaller glazed openings rather than huge, out of place windows. Having said that, the view from our front bedroom over the sheep and valley was spectacular to wake up to as was the large floor to ceiling window in the kitchen; it's a lovely bright, warm spot on a sunny day. We were given a friendly greeting on arrival by the owners, who always had a cheery wave or a few minutes to say hello if we saw them around. A thoughtful touch to have milk in the fridge and a couple of other treats to welcome us, plus great to have the beds made up and plenty of towels, plus convenient things like kitchen towel, tea towels, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid already there. We took a few walks and you simply turn left out of the barn door and walk through the sheep fields up on to the moors in a few minutes - it has a magical, desolate beauty which is a lovely contrast to the pretty, green valley. If in doubt, book it, you won't be disappointed and there is so much to do in the area, or nothing if you prefer and so many lovely places to eat in the local villages.

As a three generation 'family' Finkle Barn provided very comfortable and flexible accommodation for a very enjoyable stay in the North York Moors. It was very cosy and the wood/coal burning fire made it even more so when we returned for a quiet evening after interesting walks on the coast and nearby countryside. It had stunning views over Great Fryup Dale and a cosy and welcoming pub (Board Inn) in Lealholm.
