Lakeside, seaside, countryside, hillside...wherever you can picture your perfect cottage, you'll find it with Welcome Cottages!

Description

Attractive farm cottage with period features and views over fields and fells. Perfectly placed for touring the north of the Lakes.

Perfectly situated for touring

Drive along unfenced roads surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the northern lakes, until you arrive at these cosy character holiday cottages, on a working sheep and beef farm 2.5 miles from Caldbeck. Renovated from an old barn (Swaledale Cottage (ref W1780) is the middle cottage, Ellerbeck Cottage (ref W1821) is the end cottage), they are nicely decorated and furnished and feature exposed beams, with views over farmland to the fells beyond and walking right from the door. Children can explore the workings of a real farm, they can sit on a tractor and feed the lambs (accompanied by the owner). In John Peel country, Caldbeck is a pretty and peaceful village which has, in addition to cafes, craft and antique shops, a goldsmith, clogmaker and bowling green. Situated on the edge of the National Park, it is known locally as ’Back o’ Skiddaw’, a walk over which will bring you into the bustling market town of Keswick. Keswick with its lakes, Bassenthwaite and Derwent Water are a 15-minute drive and full of interesting things to see and do. Enjoy a ride up Derwent Water on the Keswick Launch, use the many walking and cycle paths to explore the breathtaking scenery, experience Keswick Spa, the theatre by the lake and the numerous museums suitable for all the family. The traditional market town of Cockermouth, Wordsworth’s birthplace, is 14 miles and the historic city of Carlisle and the Scottish border is 16 miles. This is an excellent base for exploring the northern Lake District. Shops 2.5 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with beams. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Open fire in living room included. NSH, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Cot. Video. Electric cooker. Microwave. Dishwasher. Wi-fi. Shared enclosed lawned garden and furniture. Parking (2 cars).

The property was just right for us. It was clean, comfortable and having the open fire with a fresh supply of logs was wonderful. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Being close to Caldbeck was good in the evenings and the cottage was central to all the places we wanted to visit. Lovely holiday.

The cottage location is lovely and peaceful. The owners of the cottage are very friendly, polite and helpful. The local amenities are ideal, especially the local pub, "The Oddfellows", for a drink and an evening meal and the welcome from the locals was warm and friendly. Walking routes around the area cater for all levels of fitness, but be aware that some are very boggy in places, so be prepared with a change of boots and clothing!! Views from the cottage location were breath taking and a walk up the hill from the cottage only added to the panorama.
