Loved our stay at Dol Afon. It is really well equipped and was perfect for our group - family of four and two grandparents. Good sized rooms, lovely open plan living, super modern kitchen and a great utility / boot room for all those wet and muddy shoes! We loved the location. The kids skipped across the field and played excitedly in the river. The views are stunning. We made the most of the local pub, (walkable, 15 minutes) the Eagles Inn, and had a couple of lovely evenings out there. Would love to go back.

Dol afon was hands down the best cottage we have ever stayed at. Fully equipped kitchen and downstairs shower was brilliant. So peaceful and calming. I would give ot a 9.5 score as the only niggle for us was no wifi but i know for some this would be a blessing. We had the best holiday there and will definitely go back.

We had a fantastic week here with friends and family. Kids able to run and play outdoors safely. Easy driving distance to everything Snowdonia has to offer.

No We wouldn't go to partly because of the approach which was a single track country lane with very few passing places in the lane. which we think we should have been told about when booking any cottage. Also the pictures of the inside of cottage did not show or tell there was a step out of the sitting room to take you up to the bedrooms . However the step was 10 inches high there was no notice on the wall beside the step of MIND THE STEP or a grab handle , at the beginning of the holiday I missed the step and sprained my ankle badly. we informed the owners of my accident they immediately brought 2 breeze blocks down to put in front of the high step to temporarily make it 2 steps . The next day they said they had booked a joiner /carpenter to come and put a new step in which I guess they have done by now. We have photographs of the 10 inch step and the state of my foot.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; After reading your lovely comments in the visitors book after your recent stay I was very sorry to hear that the lane leading to the cottage caused you so much misery. The half mile lane from the main road to the cottage is narrow, but with several passing places, which is common for rural areas such as ours. The cottage is advertised as being in a lovely rural setting, and it really is beautiful and peaceful there. You are well away from the noise and traffic of the main road, without being too remote, and thankfully traffic is light most times of the day. The step from the living room to the hall that leads to the bedrooms is slightly deeper than usual, but as I promised a new step was ordered immediately and has been placed there to aid anyone who might find the original step too deep. We always try to make all our guests' stay as pleasant and relaxing as possible and are very sorry that you did not appear to enjoy your stay as much as we had hoped.

Lovely cottage in a very peaceful location with a friendly, helpful owner. The weather wasn't great but the views around the cottage made up for that. The sheep kept us entertained too. To make the cottage even better and more suitable for less mobile people, it would benefit from some grab rails, a taller wc and a small step to help people up the rather large one leading to the bedrooms.
