Description

Attached to a Grade II listed farmhouse on the fringe of the picturesque coastal village of Warkworth

Dairy Cottage is an attached stone built cottage situated in the private grounds of a substantial Grade II listed farmhouse on the edge of the highly sought after coastal village of Warkworth. Originally constructed in 1802 with servants quarters added around a century later this beautiful property formerly belonged to the Duke of Northumberland and rented out as working farmhouse alongside the adjoining land. The entire property which sits within a half an acre has been privately owned since 1989. The servants quarters have been transformed to create Dairy Cottage; a self catering holiday cottage awarded 4* by Visit England. The secluded garden with private patio area is a real feature of this property; an idyllic peaceful retreat to dine alfresco and admire the uninterrupted rural views across fields and countryside towards the coastline and Coquet Island. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

Lovely location, nice cottage. Owner was only present once to check in, which is not a complaint (I hate when owners are intrusive!). Lovely location, lots of nice strolls nearby, Warkworth is a lovely village, Amble is walking distance and worth a look. River nearby, sea also, and heritage sites within minutes. Downers: WiFi was either off or poor; Bathroom freezing; One oil radiator made it comfortable in the room we were in but it meant moving it around and it didn't reach the cold bathroom; Kitchen and surfaces too small to be much use other than basic cooking.

We had a pleasant stay at Dairy Cottage. The owner was very friendly and helpful when we met her on arrival. Warkworth is beautiful and a lovely place to base yourself whilst holidaying in Northumberland. The 2 village pubs are great and offer very good food.
