Attached to a Grade II listed farmhouse on the fringe of the picturesque coastal village of Warkworth

Dairy Cottage is an attached stone built cottage situated in the private grounds of a substantial Grade II listed farmhouse on the edge of the highly sought after coastal village of Warkworth. Originally constructed in 1802 with servants quarters added around a century later this beautiful property formerly belonged to the Duke of Northumberland and rented out as working farmhouse alongside the adjoining land. The entire property which sits within a half an acre has been privately owned since 1989. The servants quarters have been transformed to create Dairy Cottage; a self catering holiday cottage awarded 4* by Visit England. The secluded garden with private patio area is a real feature of this property; an idyllic peaceful retreat to dine alfresco and admire the uninterrupted rural views across fields and countryside towards the coastline and Coquet Island. Very clean and comfortable, and also incredibly convenient for Amble, Alnwick, Newcastle - even Edinburgh (one hour on the train). The complimentary wine and biscuits were a terrific start to the holiday, especially after a 4 hour drive - thank you, Jane.

Dairy Cottage was a fantastic place to stay and ideally located for all the Northumberland Coast has to offer (which is a lot!) We had a warm, friendly welcome from the owners, Jayne & Scott who made it clear they were there if we needed anything but were otherwise completely unobtrusive. The cottage certainly has character! It has a private entrance and a lovely, spacious garden which was ideal for our toddler to play in. The garden also has lovely views across open fields towards the sea. Downstairs, the living area is fairly compact but was absolutely fine for a couple / small family and the kitchen was really well equipped. Upstairs, the master bedroom is very spacious and comfortable. The single is small but nicely presented and there is (just) room to squeeze a travel-cot in if you push the bed against the wall as we did! The only minor downside was the bathroom which is positioned downstairs (like in many older houses) The bathroom is quite small and it felt a bit cold & damp at times despite a good fan which was activated every time the light was turned on. However, it is an early 19th century building so can't be helped and, that aside, the bath itself was very relaxing with plentiful hot water! Warkworth is fantastic! The castle is not to be missed. The town itself is very pretty and there are several great pubs and cafes just 10 - 15 minutes walk from Dairy Cottage. The local shop is good for basics and Amble is only a mile or so away which has many bigger shops, petrol station etc. We had a superb holiday in a great location and would certainly recommend Dairy Cottage to friends visiting the area who want a clean, comfortable & resonably priced place to stay.
