The cottage is in a truly beautiful, peaceful location, the owner is absolutely lovely and the parking is really easy but the photos do not fully convey how tiny the downstairs living space is. We did not feel it was worth nearly £700 for a week, or warrant a 4* rating. The mattress was uncomfortable, I could feel springs through it. The towels were small (bath towel rather than bath sheet size) and mine was non too clean. We could only make the wifi or the tv work at any one time, not both together. We had to switch to router off & on again to change between the two. The hot water heater was on a timer and made such a noise in the early hours of the morning that it woke us up so we switched it off. (We could have had it on during the day, we just didn't bother). However, the shower that a previous guest had mentioned was wonderful - plenty of hot water and pressure - so that must have been seen to. The cooker was an old, free standing one with the enamel chipped off at the top edge so it looked scruffy. There was no shaver socket and a shortage of power points in general. We could only find 1 in the bedroom for shaving/hairdrying/electric toothbrush & charging 2 mobiles. The bedroom had a skylight that was covered by a blue roller blind but it didn't keep the morning light out and it woke me at 5am each day. On the website it was stated that there was a shared washing machine & tumble drier. I don't know where they were and they were not mentioned in the property information in the cottage. (We didn't ask as we didn't intend to use them). All in all we felt that things had been provided to meet a checklist and obtain the 4* rating rather than to be of any practical use (ironing board in a cupboard disguised as a beam behind the sofa). This a perfectly lovely, tiny cottage but it was not worth the money.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. The week that you came to stay was a peak week as it was bank holiday so the price of the property was more expensive than the weeks either side of this one. You are the first to complain about the mattress and of course, whether a mattress is considered comfy is subjective. Normally, I do leave a bath sheet in the property so I am sorry that there was not one during your stay – had you notified me of this, I would of course provided more towels for you. The TV and Wi-Fi are too completely separate entities and one would not affect the other working. Since your stay we have had to have an engineer round (at cost of £48) to try and rectify issues caused during your stay. Of course, as with any internet connection, if there is bad weather this can affect the signal and is out of my control. No work has been completed on the shower at any time. On the day that you left we replaced the oven and this is now brand new. No-one has ever complained about the lack of power sockets in the property. In regards to the blind on the skylight, this is the only blind that will fit. Both the tumble dryer and washing machine are located in the garage and the key for this is left in the property. Perhaps the cottage was not the best choice or best suited for you.

It's lovely, but just too small, which made it uncomfortable. Lots of cushions, but no space to put anything. We were also expecting a decent enclosed garden, with grass etc, which is what's on the cottage speck, so the dog could have a wander and do its business. The small Lshaped patio was a poor excuse for a garden and did not work well with the dog.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. The cottage is a small and quaint cottage as shown in the pictures. the garden is as shown as in the picture however there is a gate from the patio which accesses a grassed area that is ideal for dogs.
