Fantastic cottage. The hosts were wonderful and took very good care of us. They had even baked a cake, typical of the region that was waiting for us on arrival. The farm that the cottage sits on is small and very well-kept. My 4 year old daughter loved seeing the calves and chickens. She even got to collect eggs. An absolutely wonderful place.

The reason for not staying again is; it was advertised with an enclosed garden, that had led me to think this is part of the cottage as indicated on the pictures on the internet. I see no information to say you were 30m from the garden as it was completely separate to the cottage that is no good for letting your dog out as you have to walk it to the garden. Garden was also overgrown and rotten apples and fruit lay in the grass attracting wasps and pests. The cottage and welcome was lovely, but I feel I was miss led with this cottage booking and you should look at the full description as its not clear on the layout location of the garden. Thank you.

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you Ady for your review. I'm sorry that you felt you were misled by the description. We did talk about this together when you came. The garden is cut weekly and is an orchard where you are able to pick all the fruit you want while you stay with us. As the cottage is in the doomsday book we are restricted by any building or additions that we would like to make to the cottage. We added the garden nearly two years ago and it's secure and we think rather pretty.

we all enjoyed the accommodation at cider barn there was a somerset cider cake to welcome us to the barn. Every where was very clean and it was home from home with the touches that Sharon had made. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for showers, baths and the dredded washing up!! The majority of the equipment such as washing machine, tumble dryer etc appeared to be brand new. We all slept well whilst we were at the barn so we were raring to go the next day we would certainly go there again.

Lovely place to stay for a few days. Close to everything you need whether walking or driving. This was our first holiday away as husband and wife as we had to come back from our honeymoon in June 2016 due to our home flooding with the terrible weather, it would have been nice to have been forwarned about the hen do in the other barn before arriving to allow us the option to choose somewhere different. A little too much noise very late at night with gates banging and screaming (when the entertainment arrived) which set our dog off barking. Bed a little hard for us both but the jacuzzi bath soaked all the pains away!!! Would stay again but would check if a stag or hen had booked the other barn.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We were not aware the other guests would be so noisy. The bed now has a memory foam topper on it and it has been likened to 'sleeping on a cloud'.

It's a lovely cottage in a lovely setting and close to lots of days out and things to do. We were made to feel incredibly welcome and nothing was too much trouble, we were even given fire wood for the stove. My only comment would be that the mattress was a little uncomfortable and the bed a bit small but then I am 6.2! All in all, we had a great weekend and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

It was ideally sized for 3 of us. The underfloor heating is superb, we were very warm in February. We lit the stove on the last evening for atmosphere but didn't need to. There is wi-fi although it doesn't appear on the list. The location is good as a base, within a few miles you have the sea (and each of the big supermarkets). There is a footpath going into the Mendips within a hundred yards of the entrance which we explored on one of the days. There are many more but you would need to drive to the start. The roads are quite narrow. We also visited Wookey Hole and drove back via Cheddar Gorge. We went to see the Clifton Suspension Bridge which has an excellent and very informative visitors' centre. Most of Weston super Mare was not open as it was out of season. Weston opens in March, apparently. One disappointment was the enclosed garden in the description, although you can use it, it doesn't feel associated with the Cider Barn, it's next to your parking space but also right next to the Old Dairy it feels like theirs - but was that picture that decided me to book.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay here. You commented on the garden. The garden solely belongs to the Cider Barn as The Old Dairy has its own garden and so does the owners home Walnut Barn.
