Nestled amidst glorious north Cornish countryside, yet just 7 miles from the breathtaking Heritage coastline, these delightful, spacious properties (Penderrow ref TME and Cherry Tree Cottage ref TMF) are the perfect choice for family and friends to enjoy a celebration or just to escape and relax in this tranquil location

Cherry Tree Cottage is a converted stone barn, ideal for a family with children or couples looking for a cosy country retreat with the added benefit of two separate sitting rooms, each with its own TV and DVD player. One of the key features of this pretty holiday cottage is the use of the owners’ beautiful indoor heated swimming pool (1 minute’s walk from the cottage). The cottage has its own private patio-style garden to the front with a lovely sitting-out area and there is a small games room available (1 minute’s walk from the cottage). The owners, who live close by, are themselves very accommodating and a lovely welcome pack is provided for guests.
This property is one of two situated on a 35-acre smallholding with sheep, horses, chickens and ducks, close to Canworthy Water in the heart of rural Cornwall, and just a short drive from some superb coastal towns and beaches such as Bude and Crackington Haven. The pretty villages of Padstow, where the renowned chef Rick Stein boasts a superb seafood restaurant and deli shop; Port Isaac where Doc Martin was filmed, and Rock are all worth a visit. Mystical Tintagel with the legendary King Arthur’s Castle is close by, whilst the wild beauty of Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moor are a must for walkers. For a great day out try Crealy Adventure Park and the famous Eden Project. Petrol station 4 miles. Shop and pub 4 miles.

Nice size cottage and great that things like dishwasher tablets, toilet paper, shower gel etc are provided. The swimming pool makes this cottage - it is a lovely pool, and is open from 9am - 8pm so you can get in, even if there is someone else at the other cottage. Where this falls down is cleanliness, didn't seem like it had been dusted for a long time, there were dog hairs all over the rug, some of the kitchen equipment was dirty too. Just felt a little grubby and for the cost I would have expected better. Additionally the location is on a nice quiet farm, but is a 20 min drive to anything, a local shop, a beach etc, I think being closer to the beach would have been ideal. Overall we had a wonderful stay, but feel like we paid far too much for the cottage!

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your review. Our swimming pool is our pride and joy and our guests absolutely love it, so we are pleased you enjoyed it too. The cottage, as you said is a generous size with a large lounge / diner and a separate additional sitting room which families of mixed ages find really useful. Thank you for your other comments which we have taken on board. We have now removed the large rug and checked the kitchen equipment thoroughly. We can assure all our future guests that everything is clean and in very good condition. To describe our location to future visitors, we are located in Canworthy, a beautiful rural area surrounded by fields and rolling farmland. Yet just 4 miles from the A39 ’Atlantic Highway’ which follows the North Cornwall Coast from Bude to Newquay. We are 4 miles from the nearest local village shop and pub and just 6.5 miles or a 15 minute car journey to the fabulous beach at Crackington Haven on the North Cornwall coast. To city dwellers at first we may seem remote but we hope you will find we are actually close to many beautiful places to visit in this unspoilt region of North Cornwall.

Possibly the best holiday cottage we've stayed both in terms of the size, finish of the rooms, level of cleanliness and the finishing touches in terms of welcoming goodies and all the little essentials that often get forgotten at these sorts of places i.e. dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll, shower gel etc every thought appeared to have been given to making our stay as nice and welcoming as possible. We are a family with 2 young children and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this accommodation to any family or friends. The swimming pool was fantastic for the kids and grown-ups. It is a slightly remote location but then that's what we were looking for and allowed us to totally switch off whilst still having plenty to keep the children entertained. The house itself proved an excellent base for exploring all the lovely little towns and villages around, right as far as St Ives.
