Description

Enjoy a family holiday in this spacious property, with its own indoor swimming pool and large garden which children will love!

Featuring its own indoor heated swimming pool, this spacious attractive house with surrounding garden, stands in a hamlet on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. Well equipped and comfortable, it boasts spacious rooms and all modern comforts, making a superb family holiday base.
Just 10 miles away to the east lies the wonderful North Yorkshire coastline. Filey has a wide sandy beach which shelves gently into the sea, whilst the resort of Scarborough, popular with families, offers an excellent choice of restaurants and a theatre. Magnificent Flamborough Head with its bird sanctuary is 18 miles. The historic sea port of Whitby (25 miles), where the legendary Captain Cook learned his trade, has a beautiful new marina. The old town is a jumble of narrow streets, with ancient houses and little craft shops, and above the town, high on a headland, are the jagged ruins of Whitby Abbey, still an impressive sight.
Inland is the market town of Malton, where a museum houses finds from the Roman camp which once stood here. Five miles to the west, Castle Howard, one of England’s grandest houses, is well worth a visit. Surrounded by magnificent parkland, it contains fine furniture and paintings, as well as Britain’s largest private collection of dress from the 17th-century to the present day. The attractive town of Pickering at the southern foot of the moors, is home to the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, which travels across Heartbeat country. The city of York can be reached in an hour or so, with its superb museums, excellent shops and splendid minster. Flamingo Land and Ayton Castle are also nearby. There is an excellent golf course at Ganton (2 miles) and first-class riding stables at Snainton (7 miles). Good pubs and restaurants can be found in the surrounding villages. Village shop 1 mile, supermarket 3 miles.

Excellent property and very well equipped. Vegetable knife could have been sharper but apart from that we really enjoyed our stay and could not fault anything,

House had a comfortable feel. The kitchen was well equipped - there was enough crockery, cutlery and glasses to run the dishwasher and still have stuff to use. Soap, loo roll and towels were all in plentiful supply. The pool was the biggest hit and was used usually more than once a day! All bedrooms were comfortable - the bigger ones were useful in that we had cots in two of them along with babies' parents. The garden was lovely and the children liked playing in it - weather permitting! Dogs were well catered for as there were plenty of walks to be had and it was away from the busy road and was peaceful. Loved the sight of rabbits in the nearby field and managed to see one hedgehog crossing the track as well as a deer.

We had a fantastic stay, the hamper was greatly appreciated. The photos do the house justice, garden was a great feature, our 5 children loved it as there was still plenty of room when the bouncy castles that we hired were up. Our severely disabled son loved the pool but couldnt stay in long as it was a bit cooler for him. Will book again at the cheaper rate as we live locally.

We are a large family and usually struggle with catering facilities as they usually count cutlery and crockery to the number of guests and we often have to wash plates etc as people are eating to put a meal out, however Brompton Lodge had the most comprehensive range of cutlery, crockery and cookware...fantastic! The pool was crystal clear and the pool area lovely and clean. The beds were very comfortable and had nice, clean linen. All other areas were clean and tidy. Communication was great with owners who were very accommodating to our needs. We would certainly return and have no hesitation in recommending.

Very happy with property..good standard ..pool was why we choose property which was great and the area was lovely and peaceful. ..no negatives really if I had to say one thing it would be folder was good and informative but if you allow up to three dogs in your property you will get dog hairs and dirt especially if it's wet outside...We were very careful and respectful of this but the folder did go on a bit and I'm glad we took out insurance as this would have bothered me ..but as stated great house and pool lovely stay and will definitely return.

A lovely, spacious, well equipped house, with a great view and amazing pool facility. All the details were covered, down to outdoor seating, and charcoal for the BBQ. It made a very memorable weekend. Only downside was an uncomfortable and lumpy bed in the double bedroom with en suite.
