Ideal for a family holiday set in a secluded location on a working farm with many walks from the door.

This truly magnificent famhouse is perched on the edge of the beautiful Manifold Valley, famed for its lime-stone crags and caves. Approached by a farm drive, nestling in a secluded spot, it enjoys breathtaking valley views. Very well furnished and equipped, its history is impressive - its date-stone pin-points the farmhouse’s origin at 1810, however, field name documents reach as far back as the 13th century. Set on the edge of the owners’ working farm, cows and calves herd themselves across over one hundred acres of farmland, with an abundance of wildlife and walks from the doorstep.

At Wetton Mill in the Manifold Valley amidst some staggering scenery, a cycle trail, closed to traffic for most of its route, follows the line of a narrow-gauge railway, (which ran from the turn of the century until the 1930s) and a river for some seven miles - even passing through the old railway tunnel. Cycle hire is available locally. Ideal for exploring Staffordshire and Derbyshire, Ashbourne, Buxton, Bakewell, Dovedale, Carsington Water, The Potteries and Alton Towers are all within a 25-minute drive. Butterton 1 mile. Butchers 1 mile. Shop 7 miles.

We had a wonderful stay at Broadmeadows Farm. It is set in an isolated spot with fantastic views of the nearby hills. It is a short walk from the Manifold valley and even when the weather is not at its best you can walk along almost deserted lanes and well made paths without getting your feet wet! It is exactly one mile to the village pub which serves value for money meals and real ales. The farm itself is splendid. It has a large living room with inglenook fireplace and although we did light the fire in January the central heating keeps the house comfortably warm. We were a group of 11 friends and family and had plenty of room around the house and made good use of the large games room. The kitchen was well equipped.

As a group we had a lovely weekend and enjoyed it so much we have booked again for next year. The house was very warm on a winter weekend and very well equipped. As with the reviews we read beforehand the showers were a bit temperamental but that was only a small criticism. The biggest improvement needed is on the directions - those received from the site only take you to the owners house. Everyone found it difficult to find doing several 3 point turns in the lane. I recommend you get detailed instructions and ask for the phone number at Broadmeadows as there is no phone service if any of your party need to contact you.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back to Broadmeadows. Our plumber is looking into the water pressure issue; so hopefully this will be sorted soon. We shall be updating our arrival information to include your suggestion about directions.

A beautiful place surrounded by lovely views. Very spacious and especially loved the fireplace. The games room was good fun on the rainy days. The only thing we felt needed improving were the mattresses....resulted in a couple of bad backs. Place would be perfect if those were changed. Overall, really enjoyed our stay.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back to Broadmeadows Farm in the future. Thank you for your advice about the mattresses. These have now been replaced with new high quality beds and mattresses.

We had a great time at the cottage, the views are incredible and it's very peaceful. Good location for exploring: we travelled to Carsington Water, Gullivers Kingdom, Chatsworth House, and Alton Towers and all were easily accessible. Cottage could have been cleaner (deep clean needed) but apart from that the cottage is very nice.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Glad you enjoyed your stay at Broadmeadows Farm and we hope to welcome you back in the future. The cleaning issues have now been resolved. Thanks for your comments.

Beautiful house in a beautiful and peaceful location. Great walking country. Kids loved the games room (table tennis and pool tables). Unfortunately all the board & card games, jigsaws etc. provided were all in mixed up mess, so didn't get used. Had to abandon a log fire attempt in the inglenook fireplace as the chimney appeared blocked and filled the room with smoke.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Glad you enjoyed the house and games room and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Thanks for the comments about the games, this has now been rectified. The chimney has been swept since your stay.
