Description

Ideal for a family holiday set in a secluded location on a working farm with many walks from the door.

This truly magnificent famhouse is perched on the edge of the beautiful Manifold Valley, famed for its lime-stone crags and caves. Approached by a farm drive, nestling in a secluded spot, it enjoys breathtaking valley views. Very well furnished and equipped, its history is impressive - its date-stone pin-points the farmhouse’s origin at 1810, however, field name documents reach as far back as the 13th century. Set on the edge of the owners’ working farm, cows and calves herd themselves across over one hundred acres of farmland, with an abundance of wildlife and walks from the doorstep.

At Wetton Mill in the Manifold Valley amidst some staggering scenery, a cycle trail, closed to traffic for most of its route, follows the line of a narrow-gauge railway, (which ran from the turn of the century until the 1930s) and a river for some seven miles - even passing through the old railway tunnel. Cycle hire is available locally. Ideal for exploring Staffordshire and Derbyshire, Ashbourne, Buxton, Bakewell, Dovedale, Carsington Water, The Potteries and Alton Towers are all within a 25-minute drive. Butterton 1 mile. We had a fantastic weekend at Broadmeadows. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and the first question was when can we come back. The location was really nice and the house was spacious and very well equipped.

We had a fab few days here. There were 11 of us including 2 toddlers, an older child, 6 adults and 2 senior citizens. It catered for us all. Extremely clean and the kitchen and play room (snug) were very well equipped. The only issue we had was that there was only one shower and the pressure on it wasn't great, hence the 9 and not 10. Everything else was brilliant. Thank you for a lovely stay

Bathroom needs modernisation, loose the electric shower that is only a dribble and fit a proper tank and water pump. The lounge is an excellent size, really useful if the weather closes in and you want to hunker down in your big party.

Had such a lovely weekend here. We were a group of 12 friends celebrating my birthday. The view is great, and it's very private location. Comfortable rooms and very spacious- living area is great. Noise travels easily through the house and only the one shower- but still 10/10 and great value. We didn't get chance to meet the owner until we left- but everything we needed was there. Could walk straight from the cottage into the valley- we walked to Thors Cave and Wetton (good pub). Drive to Chatsworth house took 30 mins. Make sure to order wood if you want to light the fire- which is the most impressive fire I've seen! And take towels. Have been looking around for a place to stay for our next trip... but more than likely will just come back here!

A very enjoyable stay in a very scenic location. No heating in upstairs or downstairs toilets were the only negative issues. Would stay here again, especially in the warmer months!

In a very nice area of the Peak District with lovely views and easy access to the Manifold Valley. The cottage is spacious but cosy with an open fire and lots of atmosphere. The bedrooms are a good size with plenty of cupboard space. Nice touches include a good selection of books and games and lots of coat hanger. Remember to take towels and organise wood for the fire. Also be aware that there is only one shower. The dining area can seat a large group and the kitchen is very well equipped.

A party of six to celebrate 60ths. It really could not have been a better location. Instantly at home and absolutely delightful - if only we could have booked for a week! Definitely pegged for our 65ths! Thank you so much for making a special event even more memorable.

We absolutely loved our stay at Broadmeadows. The photos didn't do it justice - it was an incredibly picturesque location and a beautiful house with a very cosy living room in particular. The owner was very helpful and we were impressed with all the kitchen equipment. The only drawback was that there is only 1 shower and there were 8 of us staying. It would also have been nice to find logs for the fire. But in general we loved the house and will hopefully be returning!
