Ideal for a family holiday set in a secluded location on a working farm with many walks from the door.

This truly magnificent famhouse is perched on the edge of the beautiful Manifold Valley, famed for its lime-stone crags and caves. Approached by a farm drive, nestling in a secluded spot, it enjoys breathtaking valley views. Very well furnished and equipped, its history is impressive - its date-stone pin-points the farmhouse’s origin at 1810, however, field name documents reach as far back as the 13th century. Set on the edge of the owners’ working farm, cows and calves herd themselves across over one hundred acres of farmland, with an abundance of wildlife and walks from the doorstep.

At Wetton Mill in the Manifold Valley amidst some staggering scenery, a cycle trail, closed to traffic for most of its route, follows the line of a narrow-gauge railway, (which ran from the turn of the century until the 1930s) and a river for some seven miles - even passing through the old railway tunnel. Cycle hire is available locally. Ideal for exploring Staffordshire and Derbyshire, Ashbourne, Buxton, Bakewell, Dovedale, Carsington Water, The Potteries and Alton Towers are all within a 25-minute drive. Butterton 1 mile. Butchers 1 mile. Shop 7 miles.

Beautiful house in a beautiful and peaceful location. Great walking country. Kids loved the games room (table tennis and pool tables). Unfortunately all the board & card games, jigsaws etc. provided were all in mixed up mess, so didn't get used. Had to abandon a log fire attempt in the inglenook fireplace as the chimney appeared blocked and filled the room with smoke.

We enjoyed our stay at Broadmeadows Farm which gave us a taste of a farming cottage in the Peak District, cows and sheep as the only sounds around us. The cottage is big and well equipped to comfortably hosts a larger group of people. When we arrived, we did some extra cleaning in the kitchen and the living room. It was obviously not rented out for a while and we took care of spider webs and a sticky kitchen. The game room could use also use a refurbishment. Our experience was nevertheless very positive. We enjoyed the fire place in the living room and the great selection of board games and puzzles.

Broadmeadows Farm is a fantastic venue for a 10 / 12 group. Warm and cosy for January, with 5 excellent bedrooms, wonderful views over the Peak District, and a short stroll to the nearby pub in Butterton. Good kitchen equipment made some holiday baking very doable. Also we liked the small second living room, a lovely quiet chill out room when the main group were in the larger main living room. The owner lives just up the lane, and was very helpful, she'd thought of everything! Our table tennis and pool skills also improved with some use of the games room! Perfect spot for local walks around the Manifold Valley, Thor's Cave, the lovely Peak District village of Wetton etc. And a log fire and warm home from home to come home to! All in all perfect, we will be back ( and no we are not related to the owners!!)

Me and my family enjoyed New Year at the cottage and it is beautiful and the views are amazing! The equipment in the cottage is amazing and you have everything you need! I would just say the shower in the shower room needs to be plumbed in with the main shower as you cannot have 2 showers running at the same time but other than that a great stay and we will be back !

A nice location with walks straight from the door. Lovely cosy house and when we had a problem they sorted it out straightaway. Word of advice, don't have a shower when any cold water is running as gets very hot. Wifi came and went but worked enough to keep us happy.

Enjoyed the views and being able to walk out from the cottage on a number of beautiful circular walks. Nice and warm on cooler evenings with central heating and open fire. Plumbing for shower inadequate when water being drawn elsewhere in the house.

A beautiful location and lovely farmhouse. However, the locks on toilet/bathroom doors need repairing and the wash basins and shower drains need unblocking so the water runs away properly. Otherwise a lovely place and we enjoyed stay.
