Description

Visit Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay and York easily from this holiday property.

"Peace and tranquillity set amongst Yorkshire’s finest countryside and long stretches of magnificent beaches..."

Steeped in history these former barn buildings have been lovingly restored using all of the original materials. Presented to a very high standard and offering spacious accommodation, each holiday cottage has its own enclosed garden and decked patio area for sole use, to while away the hours overlooking stunning paddocks where deer and foxes play. Guests have free use of the owners’ private indoor heated swimming-pool, a communal games room and a children’s play area. The complex is surrounded by open countryside and a newly planted broad leaf woodland area, and is only four miles from the pretty village of Brandesburton. Oaklands wedding venue is situated in the 150 acres of woodland that surround the properties. Struncheon Hill Farm is a haven for those who enjoy having fun around water with a river, lake and pond nearby. Fishing, canal cruises and a Jet Ski and Diving School are less than half a mile from the door. Visitors will find locally an 18-hole golf course, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, a parachute and gliding centre, and an RSPB bird sanctuary.
Just a short drive leads to the traditional seaside resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Filey with miles of Blue Flag sandy beaches, colourful promenades, inns and tea rooms in abundance, offering the perfect family day out. Walking and cycling tracks surround the cottages and there is easy access to the Yorkshire Wolds - one of Yorkshire’s best-kept secrets. Robin Hoods Bay is well worth a visit, where children will love the chance to search for fossils amongst the rock pools. For stunning views, Flamborough Head is a must and visitors will delight in the puffin colonies that cling to the cliff side. For an alternative day trip, York will not disappoint and meandering along the cobbled streets of ‘The Shambles’, packed with curio and antique shops, as well as many museums including The National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre will keep both adults and children alike amused for hours.
Explore British heritage when visiting stately homes and halls such as Burton Agnes Hall with its large collection of Monet and Renoir paintings, or Sledmere Hall with its beautiful gardens only a
30-minute drive away. The attractive market town of Beverley 12 miles away, where visitors can enjoy ancient cobbled streets, quaint shops and friendly local people, completes the area of peace and tranquility surrounding Struncheon Hill Farm. Shops, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

Large beamed living/dining room with vaulted ceiling and wooden floor. Large well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen. Utility. Two bedrooms, each with exposed beams; one double and one twin. This was the perfect place for a pair of families with young kids and dogs to spend the New Year weekend. The cottage was clean, cosy and well prepared. The paddock was great for exercising the dogs and the indoor pool was perfect for the kids, so warm it was like a bath! The cottages were brilliantly located and the seclusion was a welcome break away from the usual hustle and bustle. We would struggle to give any negatives about our stay other than maybe the mattresses could be a little firmer to avoid bad-backs but that's just personal preference. Our stay was a little more expensive that we first expected but I suppose that's the price you have to pay for a New Year's Eve away. We loved our stay at the cottage and would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone who has children and dogs.

Unfortunately my husband was rushed to hospital on the day we should of arrived, so we missed our long weekend away. I told my parents and sister to still go, and they absolutely loved the place. Facilities and cottage were fabulous. The only downside was that it's a bit out of the way from the local shops, restaurants etc.

As a cottage meant for 6 people, the equipment provided to cater for such was insufficient to say the least.

5 Adults and 1 dog stayed and we all had a good time. Was nice to just chill out and relax, hardly left for sight seeing other than to collect supplies. The dishwasher broke and a new one was put in place within 24 hours so very prompt service when needed. Made good use of the games room and pool too. Would recommend to anyone for a peaceful break. Local village had everything we needed just visited larger supermarket further afield occasionally for a bit more choice.

Great week away from it all including wi-fi and mobile signal. Loved the setting, doggie loved the paddock and the small boy enjoyed the pool. Weather was very hot and humid. Great beaches including dog friendly beaches. It is in the country, in amongst working farms and there are a lot and I mean a lot of flies. Easily remedied by a trip to Hornsea Garden Centre, 3 fly swatters for a £1!!! If fly swotting was an Olympic sport we would be in Rio now. Immense fun in the evenings.

This was a fantastic property, especially having a 3 year old who loved the pool and open space to run in

Overall a lovely place. Just out the way enough to be quiet, but close enough to everything you want or need. Pool, pool/snooker tables and playground on site were well used. Separate paddock for dog to run off lead and enclosed driveway lets the kids and dogs come in and out as they please. A few things let it down; Everything is made of wood and/or metal, which looks great but was so noisy. Also not very child friendly for younger ones with steps everywhere to trip on, sharp corners on tables, etc. and a stair gate without fittings (that we could find) which the only place to put on the stairs about 4 steps up - only partly solving the problem. I wish I could say anything about the hosts however we were given a quick hello on arrival as she had to leave and didn't hear anything throughout our entire stay including the morning we left to which we were told to leave the keys on the side. Other than that it was an enjoyable holiday. Essentials were already stocked including tea/coffee/sugar & small whole milk. Dishwasher was a great relief although did take a minute to figure out how to use and tablets were provided.
