A cosy 2 bedroom cottage situated next to the river Greta in Keswick

Bridge Cottage is a lovely, comfortable, cosy two bedroom secluded cottage for three people. Situated in a quiet location overlooking the River Greta in Keswick, an abundance of bird life and red squirrels grace the garden. It is only a 15 minute level walk from the town centre and has the benefit of walks directly from the doorstep, to Latrigg, Skiddaw and Blencathra. The cottage is very well equipped including a full Sky TV package and all modern appliances. The owner is a fully qualified hypnotherapist and psychotherapist and can offer therapeutic breaks by request.

Ground Floor: Property has gas central heating and comprises:
Lounge/Diner: With Sky TV, DVD, CD, radio cassette and wood burning stove.
Kitchen: With electric oven and gas hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer and microwave.

First Floor: Bedroom 1: With double bed.
Bedroom 2: With single bed.
Bathroom: With shower over bath, WC and wash basin.

All electric, gas and bed linen included. Initial supply of fuel for wood burning stove provided. Cot available. Wi-fi internet access available.Front garden with seating. Private parking for 2 cars. BBQ available.

    Cottage was damp. Utensils were minimal and some needed replacing. Markings on oven were non existant which made it difficult to judge temperature. The toaster was the same. Garden furniture was unusable due to damp and covered in moss. Bath taps could not be turned off properly. Air flow in the bathroom was inadequate, therefore it never dried out. Carpets/mats constantly rucked and therefore dangerous. Only one exit, health and safety issue. The high fee was not reflected in the quality of the property and facilities offered.

    Response on behalf of the owner; Bridge Cottage is approximately 250 years old; it was completely altered and refurbished in 2008. The property does not suffer from damp as remedial work on flashings etc. was carried out by a professional builder in 2013. Markings on the oven may be slightly compromised however it is in perfectly good working order. The toaster is also in good working condition. Inventory of kitchen utensils is more than that required by The English Tourist Board who inspect the premises annually, most recently approximately March 2015. Garden furniture is sited permanently in the garden and may well have been damp bearing in mind the weather this summer however, it is clean and there is no evidence of moss on any of the furniture. Soft fitted mattress type covers are stored in doors for the use of customers. Tap washers would have been changed at the occupiers convenience had this been reported. They are changed as required and presently (and usually) work normally. There is an electric fan in the bathroom which operates from the light switch and stays on for a period after the lights have been extinguished. Alternatively, the sash window can be opened for additional ventilation. All carpets are fitted and retained by carpet grippers. Nowhere are they loose. There is a large Indian rug and a small Turkish Hearth Rug in the living area. The nature of their manufacture minimises rucking and is not an issue. There is only one access to the property which is unavoidable and with the adequate provision of firefighting equipment, is not considered an issue by the inspecting authorities.
