Description

Boasting a private hot tub, shared swimming pool and fine views of the Scottish Mountains and countryside, this is the ideal getaway.

Shared use of indoor heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi and saunaClose to seafront
Family-friendly development

Set on the edge of a village, these cottages are ideal for exploring Cockermouth and the northern fells and lakes, and enjoy stunning scenery without experiencing the same hustle and bustle of the central Lakes. Finished to a very good standard, the cottages have everything you need for family getaways including a hot tub each, and have shared use of a superb, private indoor pool with sauna and spa within the courtyard. Each cottage has its own style and attributes but all share lovely outlooks over farmland towards the Solway Coast, 4 miles. Halls Bank Farm ref 13196 is a 17th-century sandstone farmhouse, tastefully decorated. Its original outhouses stand in a walled courtyard where a stream runs through to the paddock. Berwyn Bank ref 15825 is a wonderful sandstone barn attached to Halls Bank Farm and has been skilfully converted, retaining much of its character, with some flagged floors and beams. A large living room on the first floor gives super views towards the Scottish mountains and Solway Coast. It was originally a bank barn, therefore there is an external level access to both the ground and first floor. It also has a private enclosed garden. Previously a barn in a former 17th-century farmsteading, Beckside ref 17926 is a charming single-storey, detached stone cottage that has been totally restored with exposed beams and interesting features. It stands adjacent to the swimming pool. Spacious and well-presented, Stackgarth ref 29673 is a charming, detached holiday bungalow with thoughtful and welcoming touches. The market town of Cockermouth is 6 miles, Keswick 14 miles and Buttermere 12 miles. Bassenthwaite Lake, 6 miles. Private fishing on the River Ellen for salmon and trout, 1 mile (free of charge). Golf and horse riding nearby. Beach 10 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub ½ mile. The properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 28+1 guests.

Ideal base for our family get together. It's an old house so very noisy floorboards etc....can hear every doorstep when someone is upstairs. Was a leak in one of the en suite bathrooms which meant that bathroom couldn't be used but also meant there was terrible smell of damp in the bedroom. The owner was aware of the problem and very kindly waved the fee for the hot tub as way of compensation. Despite these few problems would def recommend house.. great for kids as there are cows, Shetland pony, chickens and Chorizo the pig right at the bottom of your garden

Truely an amazing place to go. We celebrated a 31'st, 86th, 13th, 60th and a 10th I couldn't have asked for a better place. Carol, (the owner) is so friendly and always there when you needed her and extremely helpful. We've never stayed in a cottage before or had a family holiday like this but I would highly recommend it x it was very private and the hot tub and pool made the experience even better. Can not fault it at all only wish we had booked for longer or become a resident there. The cottage was so cozy, tranquil and had character to it that set the scene.

The cottage was great, perfect for us 3 families to share. The pool was brilliant! There is so much to do round the Lake District but the cottage is quite out of the way so be prepared to travel upto an hour and half each day for a day out.

House was just perfect, couldn't fault anything about it. The cakes were a lovely touch. Had a fabulous weekend, and would definitely go back. We used Cockermouth taxis to ferry us all about, which was great as well.

It was like a home from home. Everything you needed in the kitchen. There were a few wear and tear issues. A few of the jets in the hot tub weren't working. It was such a wild wet weekend we weren't in it much so didn't affect us greatly. One of the windows in the kitchen had a broken hinge. once we realised we just didn't open it again. The welcome of cupcakes on arrival was greatly appreciated. Kettle went on straight away. Swimming pool and amenities were good. The allotted hour twice a day was plenty for everyone.

We had an enjoyable time at the cottage and local area and there was plenty of things to do in the sourounding area. The cottage had access to excellent facilities with a dedicated hot tub and games room, garden furniture with great views. There was also access to a swimming pool at selected times with changing rooms, another hot tub and sauna. We were also able to visit the local lake at Keswick within a 30/40 minute drive from the cottage. Great family venue and excellent cottage and location.
