Private and rurally situated on a working farm at the northern tip of Lake Ullswater. Fantastic for walkers and watersport enthusiasts.

Minutes from Lake Ullswater

Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants ½ mile.

Ground floor: Living room with beams and wooden floor. Dining room/ kitchen with beams. First floor: 1 double bedroom. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

All properties: Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Wood-fired renewable energy central heating, electricity and bed linen included. Cot. High chair. DVD. CD. Electric cooker. From the very second we pulled on to the cobbled court yard and walked in to the cosiest of cottages we instantly felt relaxed. From the wooden floors and beams to the comfiest of settees; the living room is perfect to get nestled down in at the end of a days walking. The kitchen is really well equipped with most things you'll need, including a mini slow cooker, great to pop something in before you head out. With upstairs being just as comfy cosy this really is perfect. You can walk across the fields in to the village, which takes about 15minutes, instructions are in the cottage; meaning that depending on your plans you don't even need to take the car out. We would walk in to pooley bridge and then go off walking from there - either in the area or via the steamers.

Enjoyed stay in this cosy cottage on a working farm. Ample heating was included, but for those extra cold days a log burner was available. Being on a farm it was quiet and peaceful. Nearest shops etc a short walk or couple of minutes drive away. Good pubs serving food. Owners very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of walking in the local area.
