Private and rurally situated on a working farm at the northern tip of Lake Ullswater. Fantastic for walkers and watersport enthusiasts.

Minutes from Lake Ullswater

Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants ½ mile.

A delightful comfortable cottage and a good place to relax at end of a day's walking. We returned for a second visit this year as the location and setting is perfect for walks and other activities in the area of the northern lakes - Ullswater is especially stunning. It is a short walk from the cottage to Pooley Bridge. Owners are very welcoming and friendly. Access to a utility room with washer, dryer and freezer is much appreciated, as is the supply of freshly laid eggs. Lovely views over the fells with sheep and cattle grazing. We have already booked for next year!

Excellent and well appointed cottage situated on a working farm near Ullswater. Beautiful setting with lovely views across farmland to the fells. The cottage had full central heating and also a wood burning fire so it was very warm and comfortable. Large kitchen area and lounge with an adjacent utility room for washing and drying clothes. The owners were very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. We stayed one week in March and had good walking weather. It was interesting to see lambs being born and the work involved in a Lakeland farm. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage and also hope to make a return visit.
